Megyn Kelly Unloads on Obama over Plans to Regulate the Diversity of Neighborhoods
NewsBusters.org ^ | June 12, 2015 | Curtis Houck

Fox News’s Megyn Kelly began Thursday’s edition of The Kelly File by ripping into President Barack Obama and plans for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to regulate and enforce the diversity of neighborhoods (and particularly wealthy ones).

A few hours after the major broadcast networks ignored this story on their evening newscasts, Kelly made clear her disdain with the President and referred to him as “[t]he man who changed your health care system forever” that’s “now pushing to change your neighborhood” and especially “if Uncle Sam feels it is not inclusive enough.”

Video

Citing the administration’s line that they’re simply creating “a plan to diversify neighborhoods and promote fair housing choice,” Kelly threw in with opponents who “say this is the most radical, politically explosive change President Obama has attempted in his six-plus years in office, calling it social engineering of the worst kind.”

In her introduction, Kelly further explained the plan by the federal government to use billions of dollars in grants to hold over the heads of local governments:

The feds now want to take billions in housing grant money and condition it on communities proving that they are sufficiently inclusive and diverse. They want to look around the area you live and decide if your town is diverse enough. If not, the feds will order low-income housing or else, much of your federal funding for your town will dry up. Experts say this is more than an attempt to change the way America's neighborhoods look. It may also be an attempt to change the way they vote.

Speaking with Thiessen, Kelly mentioned that “[t]his is being described as something that President Obama has had in the works for years, but has only now found the guts to actually put out there” as his presidency is set to end in almost a year and a half. Clearly not convinced, Kelly mocked the Obama administration’s plans:

They don't want, quote, “unequal neighborhoods.” Unequal neighborhoods. It – they think too many cities are too white, too privileged with too big McMansions, too big McMansions and they – they want to diverse the communities whether the communities want it or not.

Likening it to a housing version of affirmative action, Kelly and Thiessen predicted that HUD Secretary and possible 2016 Democratic vice presidential candidate Julian Castro and Hillary Clinton will argue that Republicans and those against these rules “are against communities of color” and “those folks who pursued white flight want it to stay that way and don't want people of color moving in next door to them and that’s racist and discriminatory.”

When Kelly spoke with Fowler (who argued for the changes), Kelly spoke of her own upbringing to drive home her argument against the forced diversity of neighborhoods:

I mean, I didn't grow up in a fancy neighborhood. I wanted to be in one, but we couldn't afford it and you know, then getting to an adult, I made more money and now I live in a nice neighborhood. It’s alright. It's a nice home. The neighborhood – anyway. The point is, that's the way it was usually done. It's not like, you must diversify because Uncle Sam feels it's too white or it's too rich.

I read somewhere that an upper scale community started counting its servants’ quarters as affordable housing to avoid things like this.
Mother in law suites get approved and classified as affordable senior living in a system like that.

She’s got a great way of making her feelings known ;-) Betcha her hubby is never in much doubt as to the contents of the “honey do list”, although she seems like a real sweetheart.

Abolish HUD and provide no grants to cities for development.

If a city does not want federal mandates, don’t take federal cash.

Does anyone understand the ramifications of this?

People naturally gravitate to people of same ethnicity. It’s simply human nature. All this will do is inflame racial tensions even more than it already is under Obola.

I’ve had it with this POS. It won’t happen, but I’d like to see the Marines drag him out of the WH by his jug ears.

I kind of like the idea, as a lifelong renter.

The RINOs and Democrats have been big on screwing over lower middle class neighborhoods for decades, mandating Section 8 HUD voucher assistance for wealthy slum lord real estate speculators and investors, to their profit.

Why not spread the “diversity”, directly into the wealthy slum lord investors own neighborhoods?
Sort of reinvesting a portion of the profits gained into the business model they made the profits from...isn't that fair?

It is, at least, Karma.

What this does is give the gibsmedats a new place to go shopping in the homes of working people.

We don’t want them here. I have worked hard and sacrificed much to achieve where I am and I don’t want my town poisoned with these feral animals and their shit culture.

The economic collapse was caused by the federal government forcing lenders to make hundreds of billions of dollars worth of bad home loans for the sake of diversity.

This takes it a step further.

This goes beyond race. Look how many affluent black people don’t go back to live in the old neighborhood just to make a “statement.” They fled the crime and poor schools just like the whites did — and who again runs these cities and schools that people of all income levels are desperate to flee??? I live in a mixed neighborhood racially, but we are all in the same socio-economic ‘class’ and we all take care of our homes. I think our PINO is warning us that we need to accommodate all these nice “immigrants” he and his minions are streaming in from Africa and the Middle East.

The problem (particularly here in NJ) is that blacks have nobody to pay their bills; the Fed will provide food stamps and free lunches, but there is nobody to pay cops or teachers (so they are getting no police protection or education - though a lot of money is spent on both anyway).

This is a revamp of the Quartering Act which preceded the American Revolution; Americans are being forced to house/feed/school an allotment of blacks and illegals. As the white population continues its steep drop, this will become moot; there will be no “white neighborhoods” left in a decade or two.

"Not next to my backyard," said ultra-liberal Berkeley, California years ago.

During the Clinton administration HUD proceeded with plans to open a home for various sorts in a Berkeley, Calif. neighborhood. The neighbors objected strenuously and peacefully.

Roberta Achtenberg of Clinton's HUD launched investigations of citizens of Berkeley, Calif. who had opposed HUD proposals with letter-writing, pamphleteering or other forms of peaceful protest. Achtenberg ordered the protesters to turn over diaries, phone messages and other personal papers. She threatened to fine the protesters $50,000.

If memory serves a federal judge cleared the way for bureaucrats and Ms Achtenberg herself, personally, to be held accountable and open to legal action.

Court document

I did not read much of the document but I do recall reading that the decisions left bureaucrats open to be personally responsible for their actions on the job and they could be sued as individuals.

For example the court wrote, "When government officials violate citizens' clearly established First Amendment rights, however, we will not apply the doctrine of qualified immunity to defeat a remedy of damages to which the citizens are entitled under Bivens." I did not research Bivens. para #92

Another FReeper did know about Bivens and posted this reply

The point as I see it is resist peacefully and if your inalienable rights are violated sue the government employees.
