I don’t think it is so much of a usurpation of the treaty power by a President as it is an abrogation by Congress (the Senate)in its duty to ‘advise and consent’.

Having a base foundation law (TPA) that binds them in how they are to consider subsequent pacts made by the President goes against normal advise and consent. Further, the potential that a President can implement terms that are contrary to Bill of Rights protections and to require a super majority to defeat them is utterly reprehensible. It is like structured treason to me.

It’s almost like they got the NASA report that a giant asteroid is coming at us and will wipe out all life on earth in like 18 months and congress has just thrown it hands up in the air and is just sayin “F**** IT!!!”
