RIP. Wonderful Musician.
Damn.... Back in the 70’s, while hosting house parties, his album “Free Form Jazz”, was used to get the people to go home. One night, I was ready to leave my own house. He was very “outside” on that album.
RIP....!!!!
Saw him 30yrs ago or more at a club.
RIP
Never did find any pleasure in his free jazz of the 60s, but his work in the 90s advanced jazz in general and saxophone performance in particular throughout the world. e.g. “All My Life” should become a standard, though practically no one covers it. RIP.
RIP.
I worked with a guy who only seemed to have one cassette tape... Song X....
It’s amazing I let him live.
RIP all the same Ornette.

A good friend of mine from college days played bass for him for many many years. Greg Cohen.
Ornette was an absolute original, an absolute originator. Certainly one of my idols from my more “out” days. A Jimi Hendrix of the saxophone.
Thanks, Ornette.
Rest In Peace
