Jeb Bush is doing damage control days before he officially launches his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
Bush was seen as the GOP front-runner late last year, when he said he was exploring the possibility of a run.
Since then, hes stumbled over questions about the Iraq War, and his poll numbers have dropped him to fifth place among Republicans in Iowa.
The former Florida governors message to reporters in Germany on Wednesday is that it is far too early to be worried about the polls.
He expressed frustration with reporters for asking too many questions about the horse race for the GOP nomination, and downplayed changes to his campaign team this week that some see as a course correction. I just encourage people to be a little more patient about this, Bush said. Yall cover this kind of in the here and now, and who is winning and who is losing. Its important, and I have to respect that, but if you have a strategy and you think about it over the long haul its a better approach, at least for me.
I dont read the polls, Bush added. Polls are, you know, its fun to see them when youre winning, not as much when youre not. It doesnt really matter though. Its June for crying out loud, so we have a long way to go.
Even before he entered the race, political observers wondered if Bushs family name would hurt him. They also thought his centrist positions on immigration and education would play poorly with grassroots conservatives.
New doubts have emerged about whether Bush is rusty his last full year in office was 2006.

Jeb, meet your first clue.
Just keep Diggin, Jebby. You are not ready for prime time.
He was NEVER a front runner. He cannot win the base
The media will suggest Jeb’s fall is due to everything except the actual reason.
So.....I’m gonna try and coin a new word here.....BEANO.....that’s a Beaner and a RINO.
Enough said.
I STILL think he’s going to end up the nominee. The GOPe tends to get exactly what they want. HOWEVER ... for the first time I’m not quite as sure as I once was. Here’s hoping he goes down in flames early.
What a moronic disaster this fool is.
Jeb Bush needs to stop wasting other people’s money and get out of this race.
Jebster wants us to vote to give the country to fraudulently documented foreigners who broke in and ignore all of our laws and rape and pillage and drive drunk with impunity. Oh, and pay for it all as well.
And he wonders why he’s having to do damage control before he’s even launched his campaign?
I agree, the RNC are experts at nominating candidates that their base of voters dislike. This time is a bigger lift than McAmnesty and Romneycare, though.
GOP voters have seen what running a Democrat in an R jersey wins. Nothing.
Couldn’t agree more. The BIGGEST thing that concerns me about all these ppl running on the GOP side (and ‘ve got a lot of concerns) is that Jeb wins a plurality in each Primary with regularity and the MSM anoints him and he gets the nomination. I guess what will offset my depression of the GOP then getting slaughtered in the General is that it will be Jebby that’s getting slaughtered.
