Look, everyone is excited about Pat Venditte. But we can't be too busy to fact-check things like "the word for someone who can use both hands equally well."

It looks as if the journalist got it right in his article. It is his headline writing editor who blew it. . .
Clipped from the article:
Look at the 2nd paragraph.

He should be good catching a fly. Do the rules allow the use of a tongue?

The writer’s defense “It was the spellcheck”, “No, really, it was the spellcheck.”

Actually a very cool story on the actual merits. Lots of bullpen flexibility, low to mid 80s, now throws side arm both lefty and righty.
The Venditte rule, 2008
A pitcher must indicate visually to the umpire-in-chief, the batter and any runners the hand with which he intends to pitch, which may be done by wearing his glove on the other hand while touching the pitchers plate. The pitcher is not permitted to pitch with the other hand until the batter is retired, the batter becomes a runner, the inning ends, the batter is substituted for by a pinch-hitter or the pitcher incurs an injury. In the event a pitcher switches pitching hands during an at-bat because he has suffered an injury, the pitcher may not, for the remainder of the game, pitch with the hand from which he has switched. The pitcher shall not be given the opportunity to throw any preparatory pitches after switching pitching hands. Any change of pitching hands must be indicated clearly to the umpire-in-chief.
He uses a six fingered glove with the web in the middle:

To be fair, the guy who wrote the story, Ulman, used the right word in the article. Headlines are written by someone else.

interesting paper outlet, evidently they can’t afford an editor. LOL I worked in carpentry with a guy many years ago who told me “I’m taxidermist, I can hammer with either hand.” not to mention the men I have met that had Prostrate problems.

I don’t think he’s the first either as there was an ambidextrous pitcher in the majors back in the 1970’s or maybe the 1980’s.
Can’t remember the name though.

Greg A. Harris with the Montreal Expos did it in 1995.

In other news, Bruce Jenner is ambisextrous.
To: SoFloFreeper
Something fishy about this . . . I’d give my left arm to be ambidextrous.
