An Edmonton city police officer recruited from the Greater Manchester Police Force has been killed in the line of duty during a fiery shooting scene that was still unfolding Monday night.
Hate crimes officer Const. Dan Woodall was gunned down while attempting to serve a search warrant on a man at a home business near 186 Street and 62A Avenue around 8pm.
His partner. Jason Harley, 38, also suffered gunshot wounds, with at least one to the back, and was transported to hospital from the scene which became more chaotic when a fire, possibly intentionally started by the gunman, broke out.
Sources within the police force confirmed the man being targeted by undercover officers for some time was Norman Raddatz, thought to be associated with Freemen of the Land. Police and fire crews were unable to reach Woodall's body as the blaze grew to a two-alarm fire....
Officers were in tears, trying to console one another after hearing the news.
"You never know with these guys on the extreme side," said one emotional officer of the man wanted on warrants.
Of the killer, he said through tears, "I hope he burns in hell."......

It appears the suspect and officer he killed ended up in the burning home which burnt to the ground and I suspect we will hear later this morning that both are dead.
Aboriginal or black? I spent many summers in Canada.
Correction: A white was involved or this wouldn’t have been reported.
Freeloaders on the land

[snip] The tenant, Andreas Pirelli, refused to pay his rent. But then, said his landlady, he declared that he was a Freeman-on-the-Land; that the house was now the First Nations Sovran Embassy of Earth; and that she no longer had any rights to it... In the end he was arrested and she got her property back. Mr Pirelli is one of a growing number of Canadians who try to avoid financial obligations by claiming to be Freemen, Detaxers, followers of Moorish Law, members of the Church of the Ecumenical Redemption International or of other assorted groups. People who call themselves freemen tend to be white. They are squatters who say they can stay where they wish.
Where they stay, they tend to trash or burn down.
The dead officer was serving a ‘hate crimes’ search warrant and one wonders what he was looking for. Written materials disparaging Muslims or Gays, something that’s still legal and protected by the First Amendment in this country?????
People are dead. That’s always bad.
“Hate crimes officer”, so a political or thoughtcrimes cop.
They’re crazy, but so is the concept of hate crimes. Just send a regular officer next time.
The dead officer was recruited from Greater Manchester Police in the UK.
“Hate Crimes” units are a staple of British policing. One case I remember was a woman in politics appearing on a radio show opposing gays adopting children. Knock, knock the “Hate Crimes” police are at the door to investigate based on a complaint or complaints from gays.
Was the dead officer looking for firearms or explosives or was this some search for written “hate”? I would like to know more about the circumstances of the tragedy.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to see anyone killed and this is a tragedy, but it could very well be that that cop is a victim of liberal fascism, but I repeat myself.
Police holding news conference at 10:30 am eastern this morning. Maybe more details then......
Or more spin. When it comes to ‘hate’ crimes the hater must be hated. I don’t trust reporters to report. I know too many of them and they’re Democrats with a byline. Plus, they love power. Every reporter I ever met wished he was the king. He’d do it right. It’s egoism at a key stroke. It’s narcissism with a microphone.
If people are allowed to speak their minds, horrible things like this might happen.
Home was in foreclosure sale, described as occupied with no access and sold as is.
Weapon used was ‘a high powered rifle’ shot blind through the door.
I've no idea of the nature of the online bullying, or what sparked the issuance of an aggravated bullying? warrant, but judging from the scant circumstances that are out there, it wouldn't have made much difference if it was the issuance of a warrant for bullying or trying to remove him from the property he was occupying. It was most likely going to end the same way.
I wished I said that (grin). Never a truer word. Irrespective of anyone's views of President George W. Bush, it seemed the MSM strove to denigrate him. At times it was akin to hate. Seemed like a most affable gentleman to me. Sure, disagree with his policies if they wished.
Same in Canada with moderate conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The Canadian television monoliths churn out politely well disguised snipes about him. So clever are they some viewers are hardly aware of their bias. They cannot stand to see him in power.
Someone described it as "death by a thousand cuts".
