NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) A white former North Charleston police officer was indicted on a murder charge Monday in the fatal shooting of an unarmed black man who was running away from the officer after a traffic stop.

Yep, shooting him as he ran away from a traffic stop was just wrong.
I notice it doesn't mention that slater picked up a taser and carried it over to the victim and the dropped it to support his lie.
We have a potential situation here of a rogue cop accused of murder - and in the grand tradition of "never let a crisis go to waste", AP and Yahoo are puffing on the tinder...

The streets are “at war” every day now. Fom road rage to gang rage and just individuals fed up that this country is so out of control everywhere.
Just yesterday I had to get involved with a domestic fight that came out on the street. Never thought I'd find myself having to decide to stand back, as it's none of my business, or stop what was a strangulation of a gal. It didn't take any thought before my feet were moving. Just my approaching the scene was sufficient.. the guy backed off...mission accomplished.
Green apples and overripe oranges.
Mr Scott was definitely fleeing *empty handed* and was far enough away from the officer that even Barney Fife would have holstered his weapon.
This “supposedly” trained professional LEO either badly overreacted, or is a dick to begin with.
In my humble and uneducated in the law opinion, there was sufficient space between the officer and Mr Scott to allow even me to discern the threat level.
This former cop will be fortunate to get a life sentence.
A good prosecutor can make a very good argument for premeditation.
Waiting for the PTSD defense for the cop.
