A police officer in McKinney, Texas, has been suspended from duties after being filmed aggressively handcuffing, and then pulling a weapon on, a group of black teens following an “incident” at a local pool party on Friday night.

He would probably not have gotten jumped if he hadn't gone out of his way to grab that girl, drag her back, and throw her down on the concrete and shove her head into the ground.

Yep. And he was bitching in language directed to the kids that, had any of the kids been using that language directed at him -- as did perhaps the girl who he went out of his way to grab and drag back to handcuff -- would have qualified as "disrespecting an officer."

What's more disgusting are the number of bootlickers on this forum who defend the indefensible.

The one cop overreacted, but there were a large number of kids all over the place, some who thought police commands were mere suggestions...so I'm not so sure he was in the wrong, unprofessional, yes, but wrong not so sure...

Pulling his gun should have been his last resort, he needs retraining or a desk job..

Excuse me, Popman, but the officer went out of his way and walked back to the girl as she was leaving the scene, grabbed her, and drug her back, treating her a whole lot more roughly than you see the other cops dealing with bigger, stronger boys. To say the cop had "overreacted" is like saying Chris Christie is just a tad overweight.

If you read the articles what you take away from this is that a bunch of black kids from another neighborhood descended on this community pool and were making trouble. Yeh I know shocking! :-) Apparently when people asked them to leave they were threatening them with violence. Again I know hard to believe. :-) I guess then the fighting started so by the time the cops got there who knows? It looked pretty out of control to me. At some point if you ignore the cops you will get a response. Teens today are not like when we were teens. The cops are aware of it.

I read the article, and also read a lot of comments. Apparently a lot of the kids were there on a guest pass, at a birthday party. Also -- and I totally believe it -- some idiot white woman who lives in that community (probably a homeowner's association planned community) had apparently insulted the black kids telling them to "go back to the projects." The video makes it crystal clear, however, that this was a mixed-race bunch of average teen-age kids, that the kids there mostly were oblivious to race. It is also clear that the cop was way, way, way out of line in practically every move he made and every word he said.

Teens today are not like when we were teens in material ways, but spiritually? Ecclesiastes reminds us that "there is nothing new under the sun." Teens at all times, anywhere, like all human beings anywhere and any age, respond well when treated with a modicum of respect and dignity, the way the good cop in the video is treating the kids he's talking to when one of them returns a flashlight.

Even the moron cop, the kids addressed as "sir," and he responded with contempt for them. The kids treat the cops the same way the cops treat them. You reap what you sow. The good cop in this, God bless him, is I think one of those wonderful cops who can do huge good in the community and for youth. The bad cop is the kind that puts good cops everywhere in danger, and damages the right work that good cops do.

I had a few parties at a house I rented with some friends back in the early 70s. The neighbor across the street had no use tor us and called the cops all the time. We obeyed all the noise codes and did not play our music past the 11PM town limit. But be it 7, 8, ot any time the cops would be there and usually criticized the neighbor as no one was getting murdered or shot nor was there destruction. I think the cops sited the neighbor a few times for false police calls.

I was always cool and invited the neighbors when he came to complain.....but this one guy was so hate filled he looked like he was ready to burst a blood vessel he was so angry

You know that he has lost control of himself when he starts spewing obscenities at the kids.

Losing control of his language should have revealed to the other cops to go over and get him under control, instead, he instantly escalated into assault and threatening to shoot the kids.

I would say that the cops lost the day, because they couldn’t handle the situation.

Somewhere along the line you lost me. There WERE riots in Baltimore and no guns drawn. Perhaps if guns were drawn, the riots would never have happened.

 

Somewhere along the line the paradigm of American society changed and the America that we all knew was lost. There is now not just verbal sympathy but coordinated outright support and dedication of resources for open attack upon the rule of law and due process, from suspects at the federal level all the way down to various notorious locales. I doubt at this point drawing down on anyone would have stopped anything and instead escalated into something that could be twisted into the favor of the outlaws. It must be understood that there is a certain amount of people who want this, don't want it stopped and are at the levers of power to move such an agenda forward. They are not neutral people, interested in any sort of fairness to anyone else but their own side. We are currently experiencing a type of low-intensity insurgency that is currently one-sided. For the moment.

Also, the 8th vid down, by ‘k-bandz’, shows two kids fighting and a lady coming over to them and trying to break up the fight.

Not only have I watched the video ... which doesn’t show what was happening before the video started ... I’ve also read accounts of people that DO live there and witnessed first hand. These kids jumped the fence to crash a pool party. They’ve been doing it around the DFW area. Some were having sex in the pool. Fights were also going on. They were asked to leave and refused. Then they wouldn’t follow orders of cops trying to get things under control.

In my opinion, watching this video, the kids who came to that girl's aid were the heroes here, along with the other two cops who raced in and HELD BACK the stupid cop when he pulled his gun.

It's amazing how differently that one cop behaves compared to what we see of the others.

Yeh we were pretty rowdy in college but when the cops showed up we STFU like immediately. Apparently that did not happen from what I saw on the video.
