The first alleged sexual abuse victim of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert has been named as a student on the high school boys' wrestling team he used to coach.
Steve Reinboldt was the student equipment manager when Hastert, now 73, worked at Yorkville High school in Illinois from 1965 to 1981.
He was abused for years by Hastert, his sister Jolene Burdge told ABC this week, who referred to her brother as his 'great, right hand man' in a 1970 high school yearbook.
She said Hastert, who was in his late twenties at the time, had been a father figure to him but also believed that relationship had caused irreparable harm.
She said: 'He [Hastert] damaged Steve I think more than any of us will ever know.'

I wonder how the libs will handle this one. If Hastert were a Democrat, they would be praising him for helping young boys go from having to suppress their "true selves" to becoming "in touch" with their real identities.

Except Hastert would have been perfectly qualified to lead the scouts given that he wasn’t “openly gay”.

This story makes liberals very uncomfortable. OTOGH, it is a Republican. OTOH, it is a sexual affair with a teenage twink which is a fantasy staple in the gay community. Bashing him would open a can of worms for the community.
I agree that is what she is saying, and I agree that is what happened. Homosexuals molesting young boys turns some young boys into homosexuals. Not all, but quite a large percentage.
If I recall correctly from a medical study I read on the topic, it is about 40% of molested boys turn homosexual.

IOW, they indicted the person being blackmailed instead of the blackmailer. Since when is being blackmailed a crime?
Lock Hastert, Josh Duggar, and Lena Dunham in the same cell, and see what happens.
When what you are being blackmailed over IS a crime, the circumstances are a little different. But just to be on the safe side, I would probably recommend shooting all involved. The most guilty has to be in there someplace.
That's why they cling so bitterly to the "hypocrisy" angle.
It's not the fling with a tink that's so reprehensible, it's that he's spoken against depravity of one form or another at some point in his life.
