Someone should throw their “Love has no labels” BS right back at them.
If it’s homosexual behavior with a Republican, it’s “abuse”?
If it’s homosexual behavior with a Democrat, it’s “just about love”?
Was this a democratic "ace-in-the-hole" option to keep the Hassler in check that they never used, so now someone pulls it out to try to make a little $$$ after-the-fact? Hmmmmm......
You called it.
These folks never are asked to distinguish between pederasty and homosexuality. It’s like they invented the term “sexual abuse of children” which they used in the Foley matter, and it has no context. As in oh-by-the-way, the correlation coefficient is about .94 between homosexuality and this abuse. Perhaps, even .99.
Hope Hastert spends a lot of time in jail, having done to him what he did to that kid.
Why isn’t the public entitled to know who the criminal is that is only identified anonymously...blackmail is a federal crime.

Hastert was for all practical purposes selected for office. Who were the power brokers who selected him, and did they know he was compromised by his behavior?
True, but like it or not, when closet-case Republicans who make hay from thumping on “family values” and morality are exposed as frauds and degenerates, that provides more fodder for scandal than people like Barney Frank who shout about their homosexuality from the rooftops.
of course they knew; that gave them control over him.
The sad part about it is they see no wrong in what they do. They believe that their victims relish their “first time.”
Homosexual Activist Larry Kramer: “In those instances where children do have sex with their homosexual elders, be they teachers or anyone else, I submit that often, very often, the child desires the activity, and perhaps even solicits it, either because of a natural curiosity that will or will not develop along these lines, or because he or she is homosexual and innately knows it. This is far from recruitment.”

Respect lets Hastert pin down speaker’s post
Chicago Sun-Times (IL) (Published as Chicago Sun-Times) - December 21, 1998
EXCERPT
His first political bid was unsuccessful. Hastert finished fourth out of five candidates for two positions from the 39th Legislative District that included parts of DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties. But he established a political base as the leading vote-getter in Kendall County.
In 1981, Hastert, with the support of (Kendall County Republican Chairman Dallas) Ingemunson and then-state Sen. John Grotberg (R-St. Charles), was appointed to the Illinois House when state Rep. Allan L. Schoeberlein resigned. Hastert eventually became the ranking GOP member of the Revenue Committee.
Hastert was chosen as the GOP’s replacement nominee for the U.S. House from the 14th Congressional District in 1986 when the incumbent resigned for health reasons. Hastert survived a powerful challenge from Kane County Coroner Mary Lou Kearns. Since then, Hastert easily has been re-elected.
(snip)
In the U.S. House, Hastert was groomed for a future leadership role by House Minority Leader Robert H. Michel (R-Peoria), who led the GOP from 1981 until 1994. Hastert also worked closely with the late Rep. Edward Madigan (R-Lincoln), who served as Michel’s chief deputy whip. Hastert was among the key strategists in Madigan’s unsuccessful 1988 run against Newt Gingrich for GOP whip. Michel later named Hastert one of six deputy whips.
When the GOP won a House majority in 1994 for the first time in 40 years, Hastert managed Texas conservative Tom DeLay’s election as majority whip.
DeLay then appointed Hastert as chief deputy.
If he was the “victim”. Then where is the money? Did he leave it to his sister? Did she pay the Death Tax on it? Did her brother know the kid whose hair was cut off by Mitt Romney?
Looks to me like the GOP establishment selected him and then moved him up the ranks with little competition. What character trait or leadership quality made him so qualified?
I had not been aware of Hastert until the late, great Bob Novak broke the story that Hastert was the odds-on-favorite to succeed Livingston as Speaker.
IIRC, at the time, Hastert was the “low-key, non-controversial” speaker choice, after Noot’s fireworks, and Livingston’s self-immolation.
This probably helps explain why Hastert suddenly decided to retire as speaker after the Mark Foley incident. He was probably afraid of exposure. Gee, I wonder why no one in law enforcement investigates Clintons victims.
“What character trait or leadership quality made him so qualified?”
Hastert was basically #3 behind Gingrich and DeLay, so when both of those guys got sidelined, he pretty much automatically got promoted.
More from same article:
“He is just an all-around good, solid guy and a very skillful legislator,” said Gov.-elect George Ryan, who was Illinois House speaker in 1981 when Hastert began his political career as a state legislator. “He’s a down-to-earth, common-sense guy who gets along with everyone and always keeps his word. Denny did so well in Springfield that it wasn’t surprising that he became the go-to guy in our congressional delegation.”
But an out of court settlement is not.
