Fifty-Five Scholars Oppose New AP U.S. History Framework

Fifty-five scholars signed a letter released yesterday opposing the College Board’s AP U.S. History Framework. Jane Robbins of American Principles Project and retired AP US History teacher Larry Krieger brought this issue to the public’s attention last year with their op-ed in Heartlander Magazine when the framework was made public in 2014.

Defenders of the changes have tried to paint those opposed to the framework as ill-informed and politically partisan or as those who want to censor unflattering history.

55 Scholars Protest AP U.S. History Changes

by Stanley Kurtz

Published in National Review Online on June 2, 2015

http://eppc.org/publications/55-scholars-protest-ap-u-s-history-changes/

Defenders of the College Board’s controversial new AP U.S. History (APUSH) framework like to paint their opponents as ignorant chauvinists who want to censor the bad bits out of American history. That’s going to be awfully hard to do now that 55 distinguished historians, Americanists, and education specialists have issued a powerful condemnation of the College Board’s revisionist history.

The statement’s signatories make it clear that they favor a “warts and all” account of American history that nonetheless emphasizes the ways in which “we remain one nation with common ideals and a shared story.” I cannot improve upon this statement, which will almost certainly stand as a landmark in our public debates about what sort of country we are and want to be. I recommend that you read it forthwith, along with the excellent commentary on it by Peter Berkowitz. (Note that the bottom of the statement contains instructions for those with professional competence in the study or teaching of American history who wish to add their names to the list of signatories.)

The insufferable, cynical know-it-alls in the 15-30 age bracket are already here. This horse is out of the barn. Don’t hold your breath for any changes to the AP curriculum.

Awesome. This is a fight we need to have and need to win. If you lose your history you become completely untethered. The Left knows this. They know that traditions are things we do so well we’ve forgotten why. This is why they attack tradition. They need chaos and anger - emotionalism without any logic, facts, reflection or perspective (what history gives us) - because then people need rulers.

The Bible refers to this as “speaking death.” The Democrats/Libs routinely speak death to our past to kill the honorable, great, inspirational elements.

Fascinating. Do you have any verses that I can place the thought in context with?

Deut. 30:15: See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

Deut. 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

(The blessing and cursing involves speaking. There was no such thing as a "silent blessing.")

Proverbs 18:31: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

A good little exercise is to go through the New Testament and look at every time the Bible says to you, the believer, "You are" or "Don't you know you are . . . ."

Nahh, nothin. Just think about how we are told kids internalize comments like “You’ll never amount to anything.” The same is true for what we say about other things. The spirit world is as real as the material world, and as Jesus said, “What you bind on earth is bound in heaven, and what you loose on earth is loosed in heaven.” So we need to be binding these anti-American turds and loosing the forces of goodness and liberty.
