Acting director Melvin Carraway replaced 'effective immediately'
The TSA's acting director has been replaced by the acting deputy after an embarrassing report showed TSA agents failed 95% of tests in which fake explosives and weapons were smuggled through security. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson says Mark Hatfield will replace Melvin Carraway until the Senate can confirm President Obama's nomination of Coast Guard Vice Adm. Peter Neffenger as the agency's next administrator, which he hopes can be done "as quickly [as] possible," reports the New York Times. Carraway—who only became acting director in January, Politico notes—will move to Homeland Security's Office for State and Local Law Enforcement "effective immediately," Johnson says, per ABC News.
Johnson, who thanked Carraway for his 11 years of service at the TSA, has called on the agency to retrain airport agents and supervisory personnel, retest screening equipment, and boost the number of covert tests in airports. "The numbers in these reports never look good out of context, but they are a critical element in the continual evolution of our aviation security," he says, per Reuters. "We take these findings very seriously in our continued effort to test, measure, and enhance our capabilities and techniques as threats evolve." Johnson says he will meet with companies who manufacture airport security equipment and will be given biweekly updates from officials supervising new security standards.
He will stay around and get an outrageous paycheck, he’s not fired from the federal paycheck.
After all, isn't that what really is important to security theater?

They apparently are doing a great job of finding pocket knives judging from the huge numbers being resold on E-bay. Some are offering lots of 100. Of course these are just the junk knives, the good ones are being set aside to sell one at a time.

Wish I’d know that back when my daughter lost her favorite pocket knife to one of these goons. She loved that little knife throughout most of college. Opened letters, did her nails with it and more. It flew everywhere with her until one day, a little Caeser caught it and confiscated it. This was back in 2009.

Melvin is just the last of a long line of “Peter Principle” Blacks who have failed in leadership positions. Today, he’s just another Black Hog feeding at the government trough in exchange for doing nothing.
Actually security is not one of the higher priorities of their responsibilities. Top priorities are: Groping passengers, seizing cash, identifying valuables to steal from luggage, union business, insulting passengers, destroying packages, etc. are high priorities with security being incidental and not all that essential.

Everyone knows based on experience that TSA security is a serious waste of citizen's time and tax payer dollars.
In 2004 I shared a cross-country flight with an Israeli professional - who volunteered that the TSA is a SERIOUS JOKE, waste of time and money. He stated in order to be effective, TSA should adopt Israeli methods and training, including hiring well educated screeners, profiling and questioning based upon passenger observations and their responses when questioned by TSA.
Everyone knows (except TSA) the threat to date has been primarily from male Islamists late teens to early 30s, NOT Christian, US Citizens!
Is everyone forgetting the real purpose of TSA - to turn low skill, low paid private sector employees into federal civil service union members. Wonder how many voter registration presentations the average TSA troopie has had to sit through in 14 years?
Once that goal was accomplished, it’s amazing there was any energy left over to achieve their 4% success rate.
Out of curiosity is it me or does to seem over half the depts. today are run by black men or women?
