Sen. Rand Paul burst back into Washington on Sunday evening making clear that he is not relenting in his battle to hobble the Patriot Act. Are we going to so blithely give up our freedom? Are we going to so blindly go along and take it? the Kentucky Republican and presidential candidate said from the Senate floor, raising his voice to reach the approximately two dozen supporters wearing Stand with Rand t-shirts in the chamber gallery.

He seems to be a one trick pony, not much depth there. He is proving to be a lightweight.
If he supports protecting the Constitutional Republic and re-establishing the Constitution, I’m for that.
May be one trick but it is the best and most important trick in the deck. I don’t like the guy and doubt that I would vot for him for President but he sure is right on this deal. God keep him and support him; may he prevail.
This "lightweight" is about to single-handedly kill the Patriot Act.
My fears as well.
Where was he to get this bent out of shape when the Senate handed over their treaty-authorization power to Obama?
Where was he on Executive Amnesty?
Where is he on the myriad efforts of the EPA taking away private property rights?
Where is he on the IRS being used to harass Conservatives?
*crickets*
This he thinks, is his cassus belli to keep the libertarians and his daddy’s wacked-out nut jobs in his pocket for president.
One trick pony indeed. I am thus far unimpressed with the senator I voted for.
I agree. Too few talk Constitution, freedom, and liberty. I mean OUR freedom, not the elite’s.
Maybe Mr. Paul doesn’t have a real chance as some people say. But he’s standing up against the PA and his talk should cause others to do the same.
What other issues are more important than a government bent on tyranny?
There are far more egregious, clear and present violations of our liberties than what threats the Patriot Act poses - and on those, we hear very little fire in the belly.
A big win for Rand Paul, especially with members of the coalition he’s putting together.
Love that song =)
AMEN!!!
Too few talk Constitution, freedom, and liberty.
“If he supports protecting the Constitutional Republic and re-establishing the Constitution, Im for that.”
My wife and I just finished watching Paul, Wyden and Heidrich on the floor of the Senate. They all made the case for the fact that the Patriot Act sections that deal with metadata collection are 1) ineffective at stopping terrorists, 2) abridge individual liberty, and 3) have been used to facilitate domestic criminal investigations in violation of the provisions of the act itself. Just the fact that they were willing to force the conversation that the “Senate Leaders” sought to squelch was refreshing. Once again, it appears from what was said, that The Patriot Act was “handed to the Congress” by the Bush Administration, it was not reviewed, and was passed essentially as a “black check.” I really do hate Bitch and his dickless buddy over in the Speaker’s seat. These men wouldn’t know a constitutional act if it bit either of them on the a$$. The government has reportedly maintained that the PA has stopped a total of 54 terrorist acts, 13 of which were supposedly to be conducted on US soil. But when you peel the onion, it didn’t help directly in any of them.
Smoke and mirrors. If the Patriot Act is not extended you can bet the farm it is a trick.
Maybe, but it’s a really good trick.
The government is too big, too intrusive, too expensive, too controlling and too damn dishonest with American citizens.
If you or I were to break the law, we'd be held to account. Is there or isn't there such a thing as the rule of law? Is the government above the law? Is there a constitutional protection against unreasonable search and seizure?
We've drifted so far from the constitution, when someone mentions it or statutes contained within it, they are perceived as some sort of nut. This is scary.
You betcha! There are others I would rather see as President, but if he were to get the nod, I’d vote for him in a heartbeat. He may be a “one trick pony”, But that is still better than most of his critics, who are “none trick ponies”...About the only one so far that I’d have to “hold my nose” on would be Jeb...
