We did accept divorce. But first we accepted contraception and the idea that sex was primarily for pleasure. When sex was also for children, men were more respectful of women and their burdens that childbearing entailed. Now, for many men women are just for pleasure, and if they should avoid pregnacies, contraception and abortion are out there. But if women can’t or won’t make themselves readily available for sex because contraception and abortion are harmful for them, it is sayonara chick.
Not long ago I saw a story about a Catholic parish that was tearing down it's school. The priest was heart broken but just could not afford the insurance and upkeep on a school where the attendence was 1/3 the building capacity.
A constant stream of parents and grand parents would come into his office and read him the riot act. After they vented, the priest would ask them how many children they had. Two, they would all say. Exactly, said the priest, so did everyone else.
