A woman was under arrest Friday, accused of murder for striking and running over a motorcyclist on a busy San Diego highway at rush hour.
Imperial Beach resident Darla Renee Jackson, 26, was driving a black Nissan Altima northbound on Interstate 5 near E Street in Chula Vista at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers said Jackson and a man on a red Ducati motorcycle got into some type of disagreement on the roadway.
After the two drivers transitioned from I-5 to eastbound State Route 54 and passed National City Boulevard, Jackson hit the Ducati from behind and ran over the rider, CHP officers said.

Some California cases are being tried for murder, for driving under the influence, and killing somebody.
And you know the hearts and souls of all of them, right?
We come from all walks of life.
Why does a motorcyclist need to weave through traffic in order to avoid becoming a meat sandwich?
Go ride a bike in stop and go traffic and you will quickly suspect why. Or at least have a clue unless comatose.
So motorcyclists are more likely to get rear-ended in traffic?
I guess I am completely ignorant and a bit obtuse on it, as I’d have thought it about impossible for the car directly behind, presumably the only one in a position to do damage, to not see the motorcyclist. I also would have thought the speed of any damaging movement would be too slow to do the usual damage.
It does not creep along like NYC sludge, but accelerates up to 20-30mph and slams back to a dead stop. Over and over, like a giant accordion. A bike caught in the midst of this has to hope the car in back is paying attention and stops in time.
Bumper tag is very common, you do not want to play that with a car. I used to get a kick out of admitring the skid marks all over the concrete center dividers from those that lost control trying to stop in time.
Better idea now? I stopped riding on LA streets and freeways long before I stopped riding altogether.
I have spent a few weeks in So Cal on biz and have driven the CA freeways over the decades. (Though yeah, I am currently just outside of NYC.)
That sort of stop and go, however, would seem to make it more dangerous for motorcyclists to do their weaving—as they really could only surprise car drivers by doing so—and also be the sort of chronic traffic that the cyclists couldn’t really get away from by just getting ahead of a few cars.
Again, my ignorance on this issue is clearly deep and wide, but I’ve always taken motorcyclists as just annoyingly jumping traffic by that move—while also endangering themselves and, to a degree, car drivers and occupants.
I just retired to Tennessee after 65 years in California. Never again will I get an ‘F’ on my marked-up voter's Sample Ballot.
Lane-splitting about 1/2 way to being fully legal in CA...(instead of a “gray-area”): http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2015/05/28/california-state-assembly-approves-lane-splitting-legislation-allowing-motorcyclists-to-move-through-stalled-traffic/

Congrats. I left decades ago and never looked back except for those few times I go visit family in a city I never lived in to the North.
More people are leaving Cali than moving to it unless you are hispanic. Hispanics are moving there in droves and of course ruining a once great state. It was one of my main reasons for leaving it all those years ago. I could see the writing on the wall even back then. I didn’t think it was going to be this bad though...
No, “Your comment makes you come across as a jackass” is NOT a personal insult.
“You ARE a jackass” IS a personal insult.
Do you understand the difference now, or are you so far in to your little liberal, overly sensitive, cry-baby mode that you do cannot see the difference between telling you how some people may be perceiving your comments, and directly calling you names?
You’ve got a lot of nerve accusing someone else of acting like a liberal.
I cannot wait to get out of the city when I am riding. Probably three out of four people are on their phones. Who the hell are they talking to? The one out of four are too old or too stupid to be driving.
Driving on back roads is so much better.
Open season on subhumans.
Overheated motors, for one.
This was a big problem for Rolling Thunder until they got the ride sequence worked out.
