Columbia University would never sponsor an event funded by the National Rifle Association. Whats more, the idea would seem especially outlandish if most of the speakers at the event were NRA supporters.
Yet, gun control advocate and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his gun control group Everytown are now funding a two-day workshop in Phoenix on Friday and Saturday sponsored by Columbia Universitys Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma. The event will bring together journalists from around the country to learn about covering guns and gun violence.
Bruce Shapiro, executive director of the Dart Center, claims that there is no party line and calls the workshop very balanced.
But gun control advocates make up 15 of the panels 17 experts. Arent journalism schools supposed to teach journalists to present both sides of a story? Why doesn't Columbia feature other speakers who argue that people should be able to defend themselves with guns?
Only two law enforcement officers will be making presentations: . . .

It’s hard to accept the truth when the lies were exactly what you wanted to hear.
This is perfect evidence of media bias. Thanks Columbia for giving us more proof.
Libtard journalist discussion of Guns: 17 panelists, 15 anti-gun speakers, two police officers, zero pro-2a speakers.
And yes given the breakdown of the panelists I am assuming the police they have speaking are neutral or anti citizen 2a.
Telling a freeper a lie makes him angry.
Telling a DUmper the truth makes him angry.
“Assault rifles” are used in only 2% of all crimes.
Armed citizens with CCLs are the most law abiding citizens in their communities.
Outlaw every gun in America and outlaws will still have guns.
Give it up, lefty swine. The man with right on his side will keep coming at you and will always win.
What the heck is the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma?
What does Journalism have to do with Trauma?
Why would anyone set up a center for Journalism and Trauma other than to instruct journalist how to use human tragedy to advocate for Leftist causes?
This whole thing reeks of political motivation. I suspect that a better name for this center would be Dart Center for Journalism and Leftist Political Activism
Here is the Dart speaker list.

Here is an article by a journalist who interviewed the Director, Bruce Shapiro:
This is one of those "threat or menace?" sorts of "balance". These people have no conception whatever of life outside the echo chamber.
At the very least, they could've spent some time on the difference between "automatic" an semi-automatic" weapons.
But I'll bet they didn't...
Thanks
I enjoyed the article.
Glad that you did. It was a propaganda workshop, paid for by Bloomberg.
Not so. Every time a police SWAT team raids the home of a lawful firearms owner, they're committing a federal felony crime with their taxpayer-purchased [usually] weapons. And if they actually shoot or kill anyone, the penalties can be enhanced.
Title 18 United Staes Code, U.S. Criminal Code; §ection 241:

If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured
They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
When has anyone expected liberals or their institutions to be objective?
