There were 3 squadrons of P40 Warhawk fighter planes. The P40 was the best fighter in the American inventory at the time but was out matched by the Japanese Zero fighter. 1st sqauadron was named the "Adam & Eves', 2nd squadron was named "The Panda Bears" and the 3rd squadron was named "The Hell's Angels".
Chennalt was provided with enough money and equipment including the P40 Warhawk to assist the Chinese government fight the Japanese prior to Americas entry into WW II. Pilots were payed a bounty for each Japanese plane they shot down.
The planes of the 1st AVG became famous for their painted tigers ( or sharks ) teeth on the nose off the plane. Several A-10 ground support squadrons still paint the "sharks" teeth on their planes to this day!
Walt Disney created the UNIT and squadron patches of the 1st AVG. The patches were worn on the back of the fighter pilots jackets and evolved into todays "Gang Colors".
After Pearl Harbour and Americas entry into the war, the 1st AVG was unfunded and most of it's pilots were expected to join the US Army Air Corps in the Pacific were they protected the Burma Road. The Hells Angels were stationed near Rangoon. A famous member of the "Flying Tigers" was Colonel "Pappy" Boyington. After the 1st AVG was decommissioned Boyington went on to lead the famous "Black Sheep Squadron" for the Marine Corps.
The motorcycle clubs in America sprung up after WW II Vets who had had experience on "Indian" and "Harley Davidson" motorcycles in the War bought Army surplus bikes and bought their own bikes and went to social clubs and weekend "rides" for the excitement and adrenaline rush. Civilian life is boring!
One of my professors in college named Dean was a member of the Panda Bear Squadron of the Flying Tigers. He wa promoted and became a Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Everyone lovingly called him "fighting" Dean Dean. I loved to sit in his office and pull stories out of the man while he told me to get my "blank" together! He was a very colourful character. He had memorabilia from the war all over his office. I credit him with turning my academic career around.
In the 1960's several of the clubs but not all went criminal. A gentlemen by the name of Sonny Barger is credited with founding the Oakland Chapter of the Hells Angels in the 1960's and taking the "clubs" and Nationalizing and turning them into outlaw motorcycle clubs.
Many clubs exist to this day that are both social and outlaw.
Got to remember these bikers are armed also.

There have been lots of heavily armed groups that were blown up by car bombs and IEDs and suicide bombers. It used to be a weekly event in Iraq. Again, I think these protesters should be on the lookout for explosives intended to be used against them.
That is why it is done in a group effort. If I am not mistaken, the Garland, TX “Muhammed Cartoons Contest” had a large gathering of police who looked ARMED to the teeth from the pictures that I had seen before the two islamofacists had showed up to try to shoot-up the place before that police officer had taken them both out.
All a group effort would accomplish against a suicide car bomber is more dead bodies. They would need a sniper overwatch to try an take out such a car hundreds of yards away from the crowd, but I don't know if that would be legal.
See, in the Garland, there were two jihadis that were carrying guns. I think a traffic cop with a pistol took the two jihadis out.
Any major exhibit like that in the future would have to have trained snipers on the top of the roof as you have mentioned.
