Rand Paul says the Islamic State exists and increased in strength because of the hawkish wing of the Republican Party that provided weapons to the region indiscriminately.
The Kentucky senator and Republican presidential candidate blasted members of his own party like South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham for arguing that the terrorist group exists because of people like him.
I would say its exactly the opposite. ISIS exists and grew stronger because of the hawks in our party who gave arms indiscriminately, and most of those arms were snatched up by ISIS. These hawks also wanted to bomb Assad, which would have made ISIS job even easier. Theyve created these people, Paul said in an interview with MSNBCs Joe Scarborough that aired Wednesday on Morning Joe. Story Continued Below
Paul said the group is all over Libya because the same hawks in my party loved they loved Hillary Clintons war in the country.
They just wanted more of it, but Libyas a failed state and its a disaster. Iraq really is a failed state or a vassal state now, of Iran, he said. So everything that theyve talked about in foreign policy, theyve been wrong about for 20 years, and yet they have somehow the gall to keep saying and pointing fingers otherwise.

So sad. He’s apparently inherited his father’s greatest disability
Creepy little f*ck.
his fathers greatest disability
which of his disabilities?....
Rand leads the circular firing squad.
In other words, it’s Bush’s and the neocons fault for ISIS. This is why Rand Paul would force me to the sidelines and not vote if he was the nominee. His thinking on foreign policy is no different than any liberal Democrat and he’s using much of their rhetoric to attack conservatives.
NO, Sen. Paul, blame Mr. Obama for the rise of ISIS.
Where’s the lie? GOP RINOs wanted that gas pipeline through Syria built for their benefactors so badly they would have given F-22’s to Bin Laden himself if it got Assad out of power.
Hereditary insanity?
Conflict and opportunity created ISIS, the US supply of arms under Obama’s policy just fertilized it a bit.
Had the US remained in Iraq the conflict would not have spread into Iraq.
Obama is still a (insert pejorative here).
Bu bye, Rand
The nut doesn’t fall far from the tree.
ah THAT One...Yes, indeed.
Somebody armed ISIS and somebody ‘trained’ the Iraq cut and runners. Yes we screwed up. No matter which side we support, it is a loser. This is a religious revolution. So the message is let them have at it and as Sarah says, let Allah sort it out.
Rand is his daddy’s little boy. Now let’s hear from his worshippers! Pay attention to how they try to explain what he “really” means.
Keep diggin’, Rand. You buckin’ for the “chip off the old block” award?
Libertarian martial isolationism.
Well, he’s right about our RINO hawk wing having created ISIS by backing Obama’s moves into Syria and Libya. But wrong about being wrong for 20 years. We had no option but to crush Al Queda and Taliban along with Saddam.
