Poland is getting a new and more conservative president. Andrzej Duda, 43, won the European Union members presidential runoff election Sunday by an unofficial 6 percentage-point margin, Agence France-Presse reported.
"I congratulate my competitor Andrzej Duda and wish him a successful presidency," President Bronisław Komorowski was quoted by the Associated Press as saying in a concession speech late Sunday in Warsaw. A TVP public broadcaster exit poll indicated Duda was comfortably ahead at 53 percent to Komorowskis 47 percent.

Yes; this is why the political climate needs to be changing toward euro-skepticism.
On his current Law and Justice party, the Wiki is quite informative; it is described as Christian, "softly" euro-skeptic and atlanticist. Better than the alternative.

Thank you for the local perspective. I would only note that his political trajectory is still salutary, from Freedom Union to Law and Justice. If he is strongly pro-life and Catholic, that is the definition of both nationalism (for Poland) and conservatism. Bullying the Russians is a bonus; they fully deserve that. I understand that European vocabulary differs from the American on that.
I am not a fan of democracy of any description, so my expectations as regards elected politicians are low.
