Police and council bosses are to apply to the Government to have protest marches by extremist groups in Rotherham outlawed.
Rotherham Councils commissioners have written to Home Secretary Theresa May advising her they are planning to make a joint submission with South Yorkshire Police asking to be allowed the special powers.
...
They want to be granted powers under the Public Order Act that would allow for the banning of public marches of an initial period of up to three months.
...
The most expensive and high-profile operations followed the publication of the Jay report in August, which revealed South Yorkshire Police and Rotherham Council had failed at least 1,400 victims of child sexual exploitation over a 16-year-period, with many of the main offenders being men of Pakistani origin.
...
In her letter to the Home Secretary, Commissioner Mary Ney said while it is hoped the costs of policing the marches will be met through a Home Office grant, the public money that has gone on dealing with the demonstrations could be better spent.

Help me understand this. Why do the people of Rotherham tolerate this for one minute? Are they slaves?
A free people would protest in massive numbers until these politicians resign and all corrupt police, child services personel, and prosecutors involved in protecting the muslim child rape operations are in prison, or better yet, dead.
It is long past time to start executing the politicians who are allowing this to happen. A group of the victims who are now adults should simply walk into the politicians’ offices together, and kill them. Few juries would convict.
The majority of the town are white. They didn’t know this was going on until exposed. The Muslim community in the town knew, and TOLD the police and social work, to get it stopped, but for reasons of race cowardice, they ignored it or disbelieved it.
Once exposed, there has been great anger in the town and nationally.
If you were in the UK, you would see the national anger at sex abuse cases, which started with the Jimmy Savile story then this story and hasn’t abated.
Americans would be wrong to think the UK people aren’t out protesting against this. On the streets, online.....just in the last few weeks, national outrage and disgust has made authorities change their decision not to prosecute an elderly major politician accused of sex crimes, due to his dementia.
I do, when you post some, I will respond.
It does.
The problem is the “ordinary people” have no voice in these matters.
Yes, we do, more than you think.
All of the major parties of the UK are complicit in the invasion.
The BNP has been ridiculously harrassed for trying to raise this issue in politics.
All over Europe any group protesting the dispossession of Europe by aliens is subject to lies, intimidation, slander, bogus arrests, media blackout and official bans.
Blaming them is akin to blaming the Tea Party for complaining about IRS audits.
The BNP is a racist and anti-Semitic party, with links to the far right.
I wish Americans would stop seeing them as patriot heroes. They are not, they are racists, anti-Semites and have a history of links to soccer hooligans, neo-Nazi groups and the UK/EU far right. I am British, I know what the BNP are and stand for.
TRUE patriot parties are the likes of UKIP.
Yes- clearly the problem is the people protesting.(ughh../s)
BNP is like Oswald Moseley
UKIP is like Enoch Powell
Moseley was a straight-up Fascist.
If you can't show this cartoon in a given venue, what does it tell you about the state of freedom of speech there?
Regardless, what they are (and I agree with your assessment), you either let them speak or you don’t. If you don’t, you don’t have free speech.
Thank you for your response; observations of someone on the scene are very helpful. I do not doubt that many decent UK citizens and residents, plus some who are not 100% decent, are vociferously up in arms over their government’s protection of child sex abuse, whether by muslim gangs or old white pedophiles. Presumably that is what the local council wants to muzzle.
I submit that the best way to avoid wasting funds to protect protestors would be for government, local and national, to get off its collective arse and address the problem, unmask and prosecute the offenders, and destroy the careers of the insiders who allowed the situation to fester (rather than send them to nice jobs elsewhere), and establish a system that actually works, with public oversight. (If they have done this, it’s a well-kept secret here, and apparently in the UK as well).
Outlawing protest by citizens frustrated by government malfeasance and inaction is NOT acceptable in a free society, and any politician who advocates it should be forced to resign in shame. (I recognize that this is more a gambit to get the Home Office to foot the bill for security, rather than to actually stop demonstrations. The cheek of it is an affront and the trash still belongs on the curb.)
Any crime that is tolerated, that the police will do nothing about, is legal in everything but name.
When Moslems reach a certain percentage of the population, a great many crimes and atrocities become “legal” in that sense, long before they become officially legal—although that follows soon enough.
Oh, I agree.
Let the BNP and others march, as long they are peaceful. I don’t agree at all with this stupid banning idea. I don’t support banning 99.99% of things.
My point was that some Freepers might read it and think you were stating they were actually legal in the UK.
Thanks.
I try, on any UK issue, to give a balanced UK viewpoint. Sometimes that gets criticised as appeasement, but that comes from people 3000 miles away who get their UK news second hand and usually badly distorted.
Spot on.
But the Left pretty much consider Powell and Moseley to be one and the same.
