Ireland has voted by a huge majority to legalise same-sex marriage, becoming the first country in the world to do so by popular vote in a move hailed as a social revolution and welcomed around the world.
Some 62% of the Irish Republics electorate voted in favour of gay marriage. The result means that a republic once dominated by the Catholic church ignored the instructions of its cardinals and bishops.

Lets send all of ours there... Now they have a real home.
I don’t think I want to live on Earth anymore...
Ireland is a third world country with the poorest immigrants from Nigeria and Poland flooding it.
Which shows that the Philippines is much more Catholic than Ireland.
Those Poles may be the only real Catholics left in Ireland.
Allowing homosexual priests to run wild and molest in Ireland has led to this. There is no respect for morality anymore.
I agree. After that scandal, the Chucrh has no moral standing to speak on these issues. Thus,a tide of corruption.

May God cast his vote.
Ireland has long ago abandoned Christianity. A new fascism is upon them now. Everyone will be compelled to celebrate homosexuality and abide by the regulation to come which will embed homosexual into every facet of Irish society and culture.

I am so disgusted by this. When you think of all the missionaries Ireland sent all over the world, and all the martyrs they had, and you see them doing this...well, it’s the New Church of Francis, but it came from the evil actions of the Vatican II clergy and bishops, many of whom BXVI removed or tried to remove. I think one of his reasons for resignation was his failure with the Irish.
Won’t someone think of the leprechauns?!
Thousands of gay Irish men are joyously planning weddings to their lesbian girlfriends now.
I’m all for same sex marriage, my wife and I have been having the same sex for years.
I’m ashamed of this; Ireland was a bastion of Christianity until allowing divorce in the 1990s. It never legalized abortion (though that will probably happen now), and was swayed by false temptations of prosperity that would arrive with a progressive agenda. I expect their birthrate will probably plummet as well; they can “play American” and buy material goods instead of investing in children, and watch the fate of England become their fate as well.
Like so much of Europe, Ireland’s best & brightest left a long time ago to make something of themselves in places that offered real opportunity. Those that stayed are quite willing to let others make the big decisions for them; they are truly just an insignificant province on the rump of the EU at this point.
There must have been voter fraud, maybe coordinated by the NRA in N. Ireland.
Bastards didn’t even choose to fight Hitler.
Now THAT was funny!
