A day after Josh Duggar apologized amid allegations that he molested several underage girls while he was a teenager, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee criticized “those who have enjoyed revealing this long ago sins.”
“Josh’s actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, ‘inexcusable,’ but that doesn’t mean ‘unforgivable,’ ” Huckabee said in a statement posted on Facebook Friday. “He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities. No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story.”

Just my opinion, but the fact that he molested his sisters and some other young girls is pretty sensational without any attempt to make it so. If my daughter had been his victim, he’d have a bad case of lead poisoning.
There is not even a tweet under Cruz’s picture. Dugger works for the National Research Council and has nothing to do with Cruz or any of these other candidates. Huckabee is the only candidiate aligned with the Duggers. Cruz has thousands of pictures made with people everyday on the campaign trail. SO WHAT? This is the MSM at it’s cheap shot best.

Who would have thunk (hat tip Yogi Berra) we would see posts defending child molesting as no big thing. Who are these goat ropers. Maybe I’m missing it, I am from the Northeast, but is this some hillbilly sentiment that I’m not aware of. We got other goat ropers on other threads jumping to the defense of big hairy tatooed bikers, you know your local meth dealers, as if they are some kind of heroes. If this is the new conservatisam pro-outlaw biker, pro child molesters, I say bring me back to the country club.

having moved on and forgiven doesn’t mean the legal system should move on as well. We don’t know if Josh Duggar’s criminal fixation on young girls has ended. That’s the problem with keeping this in the family. The behavior doesn’t get help to protect others from it.
It is all children that were involved. To pretend that this was a case of child molestation is to be dishonest. What’s your beef with the Duggars?

I read the 33-page report but it was very heavily redacted. I never saw where he digitally penetrated his baby sister. From what I gathered, he touched her buttocks under her dress while she sat on his lap.

I wouldn’t defend that deplorable behaviour. It’s the repentance that I want to defend. No one is claiming that he has done anything of the sort since he was 15.
I concur. What Mr. Duggar has admitted to doing is obscene. That he should then be paraded, along with the rest of his family, in front of America as an example of conservative Christian values is a staggering example of tone deafness. One that is topped, however, by (former) Governor Huckabee’s statement.
Once again, Huckabee proves that he is not a serious candidate for the Presidency.
Tomorrow if your child gets assaulted and vaginally penetrated, exactly what is the date you will have “moved on” about said assault? Also, what would your little daughter’s “moved on, I’m over it” date be? Very often such girls marry and begin a normal sex life with their husbands, and THEN bad PTSD feelings come up, destroying a) the sex life and often b) the relationship. And maybe there is already a baby on the way, who will grow up without married parents.
You never know how far molestation will hurt the victims. And their loved ones.
If you wouldn’t want an ISIS creep doing it to your daughter, you shouldn’t want a Christian boy doing it to her, either.
And, frankly, there is less damage done if an evil ISIS guy raped your child than if her trusted older brother did it. He is the one who destroyed family trust. The ISIS guy is an evil boogeyman so to the child he can remain forever evil. But WHEN YOUR BROTHER RAPES YOU AND YOUR PARENTS RUSH TO FORGIVE HIM COMPLETELY, you might get a little messed up psychologically.

I do not support child molesters. I don’t care what religion they follow or cloak themselves in. The Duggars did a great disservice to their children who were molested. They are not good parents. I don’t care what else good they did.

This site will become marginalized and deservedly so if FReepers are self-avowed pro-molestation as long as the perp is from a TV Christian family.
I did NOT see any of this FReeper support for Roman Polanski the other year when Swiss authorities put him on house arrest. And he “only” drugged and molested an older girl who was already sexually active. Who is an adult now and wouldn’t press charges. Shouldn’t we have “moved on?” Forgiven Polanski?? (No.) This Duggar raped pre-pubescent children for at least a year, possibly more.

They've been on TV since 2008. The molestations happened long before. So they went and sought out fame and fortune on reality television knowing full well these skeletons were in the closet.
