A day after Josh Duggar apologized amid allegations that he molested several underage girls while he was a teenager, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee criticized those who have enjoyed revealing this long ago sins.
Joshs actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, inexcusable, but that doesnt mean unforgivable, Huckabee said in a statement posted on Facebook Friday. He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities. No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story.

Explain why you think this family protecting their pedophile son is a good thing. For extra credit, add why you support this family making money on TV for a squeaky clean image while harboring a repeated pedophile.
The family didn’t deal with it. They protected josh duggar and didn’t keep him away from his sisters.
The Catholic church forgave pedophile priests...too bad it didn’t report them to the govt authorities instead it exposed more children to pedophiles.
So you know the whole story?
The police report is out there. I suggest before you defend a 14yr old boy from digitally penetrating his 4yr old sister you realize this wasn’t just ‘kids playing around’.
Huckabee said they were his “dear friends”. He is sticking up for his friends.
I am shocked this has turned into a really big story. I had no idea they were so popular.
I thought the same thing! The parents were like Church bishops who moved the molester around temporarily when he should have gone to Juvie at a minimum.
Huckabee made a stupid move here. Now the media will investigate to see if Kosh Duggar ever got mental health treatment and if he didn’t the media will label huckabee a supporter of a child molester.
1. Huckabee offered no “pardon” to Maurice Clemmons.
For the crimes of theft and burglary, Maurice Clemmons at the age of 16 was sentenced to 108 years. In all likelihood, had the same crimes been committed by a white youth from a middle class family, he would've received 20 years and been out on probation in under ten. What Governor Huckabee did do was reduce the 108 years to a sentence of 47 years. Shortly thereafter—not simultaneously—Clemmons met the qualifications for parole, and the parole board allowed him to go free, but kept him on probation.
2. Huckabee was not an activist in the Clemmons parole.
Some have claimed that Huckabee sought and pressured the parole board to intercede in the Clemmons case. This is blatantly false. The truth is that the parole board requested the Governor to consider the sentence reduction, as did the presiding judge. Governor Huckabee sought the input from the Attorney General and the prosecutors in the case. Both declined to weigh in. The judge and parole board were both unanimous in the decision to grant parole.
3. Huckabee had nothing to do with Clemmons release.
Following the short period of time that Clemmons had been paroled, he violated his parole by committing another minor offense. As is the case in all probation issues, that violation brought him back to prison to serve time for his crimes. Once back in prison, the Governor ceased to play any role. His sentence was back in effect. Prosecutorial malfeasance and a judge's lack of action caused Clemmons’ second release from the Arkansas prison system.
If Governor Huckabee’s sentence reduction allowed Clemmons any opportunity to do crime it was to violate his parole. Once violated however, Clemmons was back into the digestive track of the Arkansas justice system.
The major scandal here is why none of the supporters of the candidate who finished third in the 2004 primaries have not focused one ounce of attention on the two judges that allowed Clemmons to go free following the rape of a child, who was a female relative, some nine years after the Arkansas prosecutors dropped the ball.
Huckabee was in essence reducing a sentence for petty theft from 108 to 47 years for a black kid. White kids would've gotten far more preferential treatment in the courts.

Maybe it’s the Prosecutor in me but ... WTF????
GLAD they pulled the show. There was molestation AND a coverup. Someone needs to be prosecuted and NOW.
As for you Huckabee ... crawl back under your rock. You are not wanted.
And what is he smoking?
It’ll be interesting to see how the media handles this vs. their handling of Lena Dunham when she admitted doing much the same to her sister.
What do Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum and Jeb Bush Have In Common? Josh Duggar

Wait, Huckster molested one of the Duggars? Or did Josh Duggars molest the Huckster? So confusing. It’s like hillbillies wondering which cousin they can legally marry.
I’ve posted it every time I see a Huckabee thread, and will continue to do so. Enjoy sticking up for the Socialist who’s soft on crime, and is now sticking up for a man who diddles his sisters...but hey, he’s Christian so he’s just great.

If it is a teenager 13 to 19 doing something to someone 12 to 18 depending on the age differential I can see a defense. If you are a teen playing with a kid of single digit age you are a pervert.
Why did the Gov. respond? Because nobody else has. Everybody on here is brutal! Guess you all NEVER did anything wrong as a KID, then get in trouble (which he did), then, apologize all over the place. Give me a break? I am sure God has forgiven him, because he has repented. Check it out yourself; and try supporting a family that is trying to do right (like some of us).
Would you let him watch your kids?
Molesting a much younger child and ‘getting in trouble’ are not the same thing.
It’s not as if he snuck behind the school gym for a cigarette. He sexually assaulted a child and his family covered it up.
