Did they shoot the CCW holder just to be safe?

Your car doors unlock automatically when car put in park? I guess I’ll keep my older cars.

I'm curious what the black victim would have done if the white perp got up and ran.

This is hilarious, and three cheers for the driver. This is what character looks like. It’s especially enjoyable when he berates the carjacker.

Importantly, note the lack of the use of obscenity. That driver’s parents raised him right. (And, call it a hunch, I suspect he is prior military service as well.)

"So, you woke up stupid this morning!?" ROTFLOL

He handled the whole thing very well. I was hoping the video would show what happened when the police arrived and he handled that perfectly.

Locks that automatically open when you put the car in park are what got ICE Agent Jaime Zapata killed in Mexico. That and the fact that he was investigating Fast and Furious.

Armored SUV could not protect U.S. agents in Mexico

I think that “feature” is standard on many cars. And no easy way of changing it by the driver or owner. My 18 year old car is wired/programmed to unlock the front doors on “park” and lock all doors once the car reaches a certain speed ,10mph?, when in drive. The doors will not unlock while the car is in motion. This is all for the children and all but the first is understandable.

His manner of speaking strongly suggests prior service.

I remember when GM first came out with that “feature”. I was hauling cars at the time. I had just unloaded a load of new cars at a dealership and one of the mechanics was checking them in. He said a GM rep had been around and asked the mechanics what they thought of the idea. This guy told the rep that if his wife was involved in a crash and the car started to burn, and she went to open the door, and it was locked because the transmission was still in “drive”, and she panicked and didn’t think to put the shifter into “park”, and burned to death, he would sue GM for every single penny he could get. (Whew, long sentence). If you can’t remember to lock the doors when they should be locked, maybe you have too much on your mind, and shouldn’t be driving a car.
