Feds Trying to Determine If Amtrak Engineer Was Using Phone

Investigators are combing through phone records, locomotive data, radio transmissions and surveillance video to determine if the engineer in last week's deadly Amtrak derailment was using his cellphone while at the controls, federal authorities said Wednesday.

Brandon Bostian's phone records show calls were made, text messages were sent and data was used the day of the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board said, but it remains unclear if the phone was used while the train was in motion.

Investigators won't be able make that determination until after a time-consuming analysis comparing time stamps from Bostian's subpoenaed phone records with those from an on-board data recorder, video and other sources, the NTSB said.

After I found out he was a homosexual activist, my current theory is he was trying to kill himself along with everybody else ala the German Wings pilot "Tomato Andy" whom is also asserted to be queer.

Among all the options of why a train would accelerate up to 105 in a known 50 mph curve, the idea that the queer running the train wanted to kill himself and take a lot of people with him seems the most plausible to me.

That “combing through” shouldn’t take long. Check the time of the crash and the time of his calls. It isn’t rocket science.

It is an out-and-out fabrication. Once again, the government is lying to the American people through their official propaganda organ, the MSM. Also yet another example of a supposedly non-political unaligned agency of the USG that has been politicized for the pleasure and purposes of our Dear Reader and his merry band of communists.

I just pulled up my own wireless statement - online - and it clearly shows during the current billing cycle what phone number was called/received, the date, the exact time it was placed/answered, and the duration of the call.

Hell - I’d say anything more than an hour and the investigator should be fired.

If no texts came out between the time he entered the cab and the time he called 911 (on this phone, apparently), he’s clear. Otherwise - he’s liable.

Less than a week after one of the worst train accidents in recent U.S. history, California officials today issued a temporary order banning train operators from using cell phones on duty.

Federal transportation authorities say the engineer of a Southern California commuter train who ran a red light and slammed into a freight train last Friday — killing 25 people and injuring more than 130 others — was text-messaging on his cell phone. The engineer, Robert Sanchez, who died in the crash, never hit his brakes. [Ed. note: Corrected from original post that identified Sanchez as the conductor.]

Officials say they are investigating a report from a TV station, CBS2, that two 14-year-old boys exchanged messages with the engineer moments before the accident.

Today, the California Public Utilities Commission unanimously passed an emergency order to ban the use of cell phones and other personal electronic devices while operating a train.

The National Transportation Safety Board in Washington said today that “records ... indicate that the engineer had sent and received text messages on the day of the accident, including some while he was on duty.”

Federal investigators also are looking into whether Sanchez’s back-to-back, split-shift workdays on the Metrolink commuter system, which began before dawn and ended at 9 p.m., could have played a role in the crash.

Whenever “scientists” change their mind about things like this,
I always have to ask “how did they change reality?”

Because, if you ask them before the change, they would say they were absolutely certain,
and if you as them after, they would say the same thing.

Going more than double the speed limit sounds like a bit more than just hot dogging. I'm sure it can be pushed a little, but double it's rated speed? Nah, nobody is that stupid. This was deliberate.

because it was a lefthand curve,
the train was obviously leaning right when it derailed.
