The 41-year-old recently completed a master's degree at Seattle University's School of Theology and Ministry, where he was the first Muslim to ever enroll.
"I was looking for a place to be accepted as myself and to be the true face of Islam, though I am not the best follower," Polovina said.
. . . .
Studying the Bible with the other students, almost all Christians, was a little uncomfortable at first, he said. But he quickly settled into sharing his own perspective and appreciating the overlaps. There are many similarities between Islam and Christianity, he said, from moral values to key historical figures.

Of course there are overlaps. Islam plagiarized much from Christianity.
If he could study there without demanding that this Catholic University remove all of their crosses, then I say, good. This is progress, this is assimilation.
This is not new.
There were occasional Muslim scholars at western universities (when they were mainly intended to train clergy) going back to medieval times.
There are many similarities between Islam and Christianity, he said, from moral values to key historical figures.
Muhammad was a thief, murderer, pedophile, illiterate, evil liar so I am not so sure about all that.
To all Catholics:
If you accept Vatican 2,
you think your church is alive.
If you reject Vatican 2,
you admit your church is dead.
Sola scriptura
Sola gratia
sola fide.....
Of course there are overlaps. Islam plagiarized much from Christianity.
The way, the truth, the life: It ain’t islam and it ain’t mohammed. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus. Then you can feel comfortable.
I was thinking the same thing. Apparently they didn't teach much about Hell, and who goes there. Otherwise he'd have been mighty uncomfortable.
Exactly right. Muhammad was a psychopathic mass murderer.
His followers were getting restless so he went off and after awhile returned and stated he spoke to God. His "revelations" were only intended to appease (fool) his restless followers.
The Quran was not put together as a single work until 100-200 years after his death. Until that time, it was kept in his idiot followers memory.
There is nothing divine about any part of Islam.
Sola scripture and sola gratis seem to make sense enough, but I can’t get how you would want to come up “sola fide” since James 2:24 says that we are NOT saved by faith alone.
It’s like saying that Thou shalt have other gods before me. Thou shalt commit adultery. You’re creating a theology based on the exact OPPOSITE of what the Bible says.
Yeah, lots of similarities between Christianity and Islam.
Except for cutting off the heads of the infidel part.
Other than that....
Just curious:
I wonder who paid for his tuition.
Ya know what I mean?
It’s Seattle University; I’m not surprised.
Interesting name: Polovina is Russian for “half”.
False dichotomy.
Unfortunately, it seems the Vatican was infiltrated and allowed its enemies to rise to the curia.
It’ll be just like the Mainline churches and Evangelicals, the fake Christians will split from the true believers.
I can guarantee which group will continue to flourish, and it ain’t the Oprah Winfrey God crowd.
The apostates will be purged and after the Warning all that’s left will be the truth.
Wrong. James is describing real faith. The context is justification BEFORE man, not God. "If a man shall say . . ." James is saying the same thing Paul said in Romans: Abraham was justified by works, but not before God.
Yep.
Good post.
