Upon entering that doorway, they all just opened up on me. It felt like somebody was just beating me up with sledge-hammers. After I figured out I was getting shot at I said, God get me home to my girls.
Navy SEAL Sr. Chief Mike Day's survival is what some might consider to be a miracle.
Day was not only shot 27 times, but also took grenade shrapnel in a fire fight with Al Qaeda terrorists in April of 2007. He successfully took down all four of them.
His body armor was only supposed to handle one round and then fall apart to the point where it would not shield from another round. Somehow, it held up, even though the gunfight happened within the space of ten feet.
CBN reports:
"People hear about my story and they can't believe it. I was there and I can't believe it," Day said. "I got shot 27 times -- 16 in the body and 11 times in my body armor. I was shot in both legs, both arms, my abdomen. You throw a finger on me, anything but my head, I got shot there."
This was not Day's only heroic action on the battlefield: he has earned a total of 16 medals, including the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and of course, the Purple Heart over his 20 years as a Navy SEAL.
It took Day over two years to recover from his physical injuries, and he continues to struggle with daily pain - but, that hasn't kept him from turning his focus to helping others. Day says that the worst injuries are the ones you cannot see. So, Day has become a full-time Wounded Warrior advocate. He also helps to raise funds for treatment programs at the Carrick Brain Centers in Texas.
"My life's mission is now not about me," he wrote on his fundraising site. "Rather it is to care for and lead my wounded brothers and sisters. My fellow warriors deserve the best available treatment for their injuries."
Day is also showing his strength and resolve by participating in a half Ironman Triathlon, 70 miles of swimming, biking, and running - all to raise money for his wounded brothers and sisters in the service.
Sr. Chief Day said that his prayer that he'd make it home to his wife and daughters was his first real prayer to God, and he believes God has kept him alive to do what he is doing now.
Shot 27 times AND a grenade hit? I’m glad he made it. Some days you get the bear......
He still killed all 4 of his attackers. It’s amazing what you can do once the adrenaline kicks in.
“Allahu Akbar, Abdul! What the hell does it take to kill this guy????”
“I don’t know, Achmed. Shoot him ... [gurgle] ...”
After all those wounds he walked onto the Helicopter to fly to the medics.

All that and only 1 Purple Heart...
[My fellow warriors deserve the best available treatment for their injuries.]
Great story of survival but it would have, in my opinion, better if he had chosen to be an ‘advocate’ for an organization other than the Wounded Warriors Project.
They claim they are not for profit but they rake in millions to fill their coffers and many of their organization receive very hefty salaries.
They show our wounded veterans as being pitiable with those gruesome videos of their wounds and they have are cashing in on their simple...pity sells.
Have you wondered why Fisher House doesn’t do the same? Well, it’s because ALL their money and support goes to wounded veterans without resorting to making them appear pathetic.
Our veterans do not want that and don’t deserve to be portrayed as neglected and mistreated animals.
The Clinton Foundation ought to give a HUGE chunk of cash to this WWP
Bump
WWP is a liberal anti-gun organization so the Clinton’s dinero will be welcome there. Type in “wounded warrior” on the search engine..
Wounded Warrior Project CEO Confirms Organization Is Anti-Gun and Anti-Knife
simple...pity sells.= simple platform...
That would take money from their favorite charity, themselves.
Pray America is waking
Wounded warrior is an awful charity in rating services. Far too much goes into overhead. And worse, they attack other vet oriented charities with lawfare suits.
They reject donations from churches as well.
Great name, but don’t be fooled by the supposed cause. It’s the same as Susan Komen pink ribbon breast cancer stuff. A hog trough at top for charity professionals, and the lowest possible number sent to the cause to prevent absolute embarrassment.
Our family donates to Homes for Our Troops.
Amazing man! To God be the glory!

Check the charities that this Seal organization actively supports and Navy SEAL Sr. Chief Mike Day also belongs to and you won’t find WWP listed.
I would never accept the Clinton tainted money - NEVER, EVER.
Never forget that Hillary Clinton forced our military to not dress in uniform in the WH, and she also forced them to carry suitcases .. like they were servants.
The Clinton money should taint THE CLINTONS BY PAINTING THEM RED; just like the Communists they are in league with.
The second thing I’m going to do when you elect me as President is get rid of the Wounded Warriors Program FOR GOOD! What a disgrace in this UNGRATEFUL country we have a need for a Wounded Warriors Project. What’s more important ..(1 Food stamps or (2 taking care of wounded warriors? A no-brainer!!! I’m not very proud of my country these days. God Bless the efforts of the volunteers.
And, yet the John Kerrys and Murthas of the world would waste no time in calling him a terrorist and cold blooded killer of children and women; nor would the military bigs waste a second in prosecuting him if a terrorist claimed he’d been unfairly touched by him.
