In one of the most unlikely encounters, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is preparing to take on former world boxing champion Evander Holyfield.

The pair will take part in a charity boxing match, to raise money for CharityVision, an organisation that helps provide blindness-curing surgeries around the world.

In a YouTube video, Mr. Romney is seen training hard for the fight, but jokes "I don't have much of a right hook, but when I get somebody's ear, I can be pretty formidable."

That’s the idea. How else are they going to make money for this charity?

They’re hoping that it will be as compelling to watch as a train wreck.

I think a lot of people here would pay good money if Holyfield could punch Romney hard enough to permanently dislodge him from the political apparatus.

How wimpy is the guy who mocked anti-war students and protested THEM yet evaded the draft himself saying that he had no intention of serving, “I was not planning on signing up for the military.”“It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam”?

Romney was never an athlete, or athletic.
“Despite the school’s rarefied air, it was still a high school, so the jocks tended to be the most popular. Mitt’s singular distinction as an athlete was an embarrassing one, classmates recall. He competed in a 2.5-mile race held during a football game, setting off with the rest of the runners at the start of halftime.

Everyone returned before the second half of the football game began, except Mitt. He didn’t resurface until about 10 minutes after the last runner. He staggered around the oval for the final lap, collapsing twice in the last 15 yards but drawing cheers from the crowd when he finally crossed the finish line. “It had to be one of those moments that made you feel good, but inadequate,” Bailey says. “But those kinds of things didn’t bother him.”

How embarrassing. Mitt’s arm compared to Holyfield. Maybe it should’ve been Harry Reid. He’s the boxer, right? LOL!

I don’t see any magic underwear showing in that picture.

Is there a boxing for charity exemption from the Mormon God’s demands about underwear?

He really didn't want to win the election, but this fight is much easier for him to lose, he doesn't even have to pretend.

That’s what Trump was saying. I didn’t realize he’d made that idiotic comment.

I wouldn’t want him to take part in a real fight at his age, but his is going to be a fake event all the way.

After 2012, he’s got a lot of practice there...

I wouldn’t pay to see anyone fight Holyfield. However, if they wanted to raise money for charity, they could put Obama in the ring once he is ejected from our White House. I would make a generous donation in return for the chance to measure my pugilistic talents against someone who has made a sustained effort to destroy our country.

I’d pay to see a fight to the death involving Obama and George Stepanopoulis.
