Republicans Revolt Over Stephanopoulos’s Conflict of Interest At ABC
PJ Media ^ | 5/14/2015 | Debre Heine

Posted on 05/14/2015 2:50:49 PM PDT by VinL

Amidst revelations that ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos was an undisclosed contributor to the Clinton Foundation slush fund at the same time he was defending it on the air, some GOPers are finally putting their foot down.

Conn Carroll, formally the White House correspondent for Townhall and currently communications director for Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) had this to say on Twitter:

"I'm not letting my boss go on ABC until GStephanopoulos recuses himself from all 2016 coverage."

And Rand Paul is the First Republican presidential candidate to say George Stephanopoulos shouldn’t moderate the 2016 debates.

“It’s impossible to divorce yourself from that, even if you try,” the Kentucky senator told the New York Times in an interview. “I just think it’s really, really hard because he’s been there, so close to them, that there would be a conflict of interest if he tried to be a moderator of any sort.”

Ted Cruz also came out against Stephanopoulos participating in the debates, telling reporters on Thursday that Stephanopoulos is a “partisan Democrat” who is “actively supporting” former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

“Of course not,” Cruz replied on Thursday when asked if Stephanopoulos should be hosting any debates in 2016. “Debates should not be moderated by partisan Democrats who are actively supporting one of the candidates.”

It turns out, Stephanopoulos has already said he will not be moderating any debates in 2016.

The “Good Morning America” co-anchor and host of “This Week” said that he would not moderate ABC’s GOP debate, which is scheduled to take place in February in New Hampshire. Republican Sen. Rand Paul said Thursday that Stephanopoulos should be prohibited from moderating any debates during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“I won’t moderate that debate,” Stephanopoulos said. “I think I’ve shown that I can moderate debates fairly.

Well no, actually. He really hasn’t shown that he can moderate debates fairly at all. It was Steppie who introduced the Democrats’ patented 2012 #GOPWarOnWomen theme during the first GOP Primary debate in New Hampshire in January of 2012. Who can forget the look on Mitt Romney’s face when he was hit with one pointless question question after another about hypothetical contraception bans.

That line of questioning was designed to galvanize low info, liberal female voters – not to inform the electorate about the candidate’s position on an issue that actually matters.

So while it’s good that at least one obvious partisan is not going to be participating in the debates —

…Stephanopoulos said that he would not recuse himself from coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign, despite urging from the office of Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, which said Thursday that Sen. Lee would be advised not to go on “This Week” unless the host “recuses himself from all 2016 coverage.”

ABC’s remaining Republican viewers should ”recuse themselves” from watching the network’s news programs.

Meanwhile, the Stephanopoulis conflict of interest story is getting more conflicting and interesting by the minute…it turns out, WFB missed some of Steppie’s donations to the Clinton Slush Fund.

And on Fox News, earlier today, Townhall’s Guy Benson went into full “Beastmode” when he explained how ABC gave the WFB’s scoop to the Politico.

Amen, All the GOP needs to do is say “no” to any debate or interview moderated by little Georgie. But unfortunately they aren’t that smart.

http://www.nytimes.com/1994/04/16/us/clinton-taxes-laid-bare-line-by-line.html

Here’s the Clintons’ personal news organ the NYT 21 years ago actually making light of/waving/flaunting Bill’s dirty underwear in the faces of the taxpaying public.

“In previous returns, when Mr. Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas and his wife was a partner in a Little Rock law firm, the Clintons had gone so far as to deduct $2 for underwear donated to charities. The deduction was ridiculed by comedians and pundits, and the White House did not itemize the Clintons’ $17,000 in charitable contributions on the 1993 return.”

Public obloquy resulted in them simply refusing to document their subsequent charitable deductions.
So that’s what they do when they get caught: they `turtle-up’; George will do it.
She’s doing it now over Benghazi and her personal press ignores it.

Where is the conflict of interest? Stuffin’envelopes is a Dhimmicrat operative and ABC is a Dhimmicrat propaganda deliverer, as are the other alphabet networks. The conflict of interest, or misidentification is to call any of these networks ‘news’ organizations when they are merely Dhimmicrat propaganda organs!

Hard leftist Snuffleupagus, the ABC executive who is the brother of an Obama lackey in the White Hut, the idiot Chris Cuomo, brother of the idiot Dim governor of NY, .... the media is thoroughly infiltrated by partisan leftists.

Of course, this has been the case for a long time. I’m glad that Lee, Rand, Lee, and a few others are finally taking a stand on this. I don’t expect much out of the establishment Republicans on this, however.

“The worst part is that George isn’t as biased as many other MSM reporters that don’t have such obvious ties to the Clintons”

Have you watched his Sunday a.m. Talk Show? He tosses softballs to the Dims and is snarky to Pubbies. I can’t stand him so have only watched bits and pieces now and then.

I heard a bit of Peter Schweitzer (sp) that just released the book Clinton Cash on Hannity last night. He was discussing going on Georgie’s Sunday show and getting lectured to and pushback from Georgie, such as “Do you have any evidence a crime has been committed” and “we at ABC have done extensive research...” - George should have disclosed at that time he had contributed to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation (as Rush calls it).

Good Grief! The story is about Republicans taking a stand against crooked Democrats and lying cohorts in the press, and all you can do is whine about the Republicans. Get a life.

Enjoy the good news, for once.

Are you suggesting that I should feel no anger at them for failing to perceive what I realized back in 1992? That the media is a partisan propaganda device which not only doesn't need affirmation, but desperately needs to be destroyed?

No, I think it's completely appropriate to get angry with these fools that took so long to see the obvious.

That's certainly your prerogative. For me, life's too short to be angry for 23 years.

It's more than that. If you don't realize where you are making a serious mistake, how are you going to fix it?

This story SHOULD be about how often and regular the GOP is once again fooled by their own stupidity.

You are only focusing on the reaction, not the cause. This is why people like you keep voting Republican in the hopes that someday, maybe when they comprise 435 seats in the House, and 100 seats in the Senate, they will proceed with a Conservative agenda. Until then (assuming they actually believe in Conservatism), they continue to play the game of the marxist radicals who run the major networks and Washington.

While you focus on Jorge at ABC, they continue to frequent and validate the "journalism" of other, even more partisan political hacks. They are either totally soft and stupid, or in on the game.

To defeat the DemocRATs, we must first defeat the Republicans.

I'm saying this as a former President of the College Republican at UofL Lafayette 95'
