I think public employees who voted for decades to get their bennies and the state of the state to where it is, need to have taxes taken out of their retirement plans in the state they worked in, if they then flee the state to avoid the mess theyve helped to make and forced everyone else to live under. For a long time, the California tried to tax pensions which had been earned in CA. But, finally a Federal Court told them "no dice". The pension can only be taxed by the state where the recipient is living.

When did the Supremes make that decision?
I took early retirement in the 1990’s, and our CPA warned us that we still had to pay Ca. Income taxes on our pensions and IRA’s if we lived in another state.
Thanks.
