Yeah, about 14 years ago, when i was 33, a friend where i worked was doing a documentary on veterans from different wars. (had nothing to do with our job)
My uncle agreed to do it as a favor for me.
He NEVER talked about it until then.
At one point, he stared straight ahead and said that there were so many waves of Germans coming that he just kept firing and killing and crying. Uncle Jimmy didn't cry easily.
Another time he passed what he said looked like a high ranking German in a sitting position dead in a jeep with a bullet hole in his forehead. He said for some reason that stayed with him.
He said when he got home everyone wanted him to take tie off. He got right to work and stayed with the same company fifty years, working part time at the end until he passed. I once asked him on a trip to AC (just him and I went down there at 2am, lol) if he was afraid of dying. He said "Of course not" What a generation!!!! I got his named etched on my arm as a tribute. Loved the man.
Everybody does know that Patton was a Democrat (from a huge Democrat family in Los Angeles), but he may not have been a registered voter, being in the military so long.
