I don’t think you’ll find many Catholics on FR (I’m one of them) arguing in favor of this Pope and in particular of this decision.
And nobody thinks he’s invincible. You might be confusing it with infallibility, which only applies when the Pope is speaking ex cathedra, which has only happened twice since Vatican I (I, not II).
I’m curious, when do we know that a pope is speaking “ex cathedra?” When he says he is?
I have never particularly been fond of this guy.
