"....In response to media inquiries about Ms. Grundys racially-charged sentiments in relation to her new job with the school, BU officials at first defended the professor, saying she was exercising her right to free speech.
Then, following a barrage of angry emails from students and threats from alumni vowing to yank their donations, the school issued a new statement.
The University does not condone racism or bigotry in any form and we are deeply saddened when anyone makes such offensive comments, BU spokesman Colin Riley told Fox News......

Cleverly, has BU again used the Silber plan to take out
Term life insurance plans
on the future victim-cracker-students??
“deeply saddened”.
They’re going to have to do better than that. Show her the door.
“Incoming black sociology professor Saida Grundy......
......[Robert A.] Brown, the university president, said Grundy will report for work on July 1.”
They went “full Daschle”
I went to the link, and immediately my computer was spammed with multitudes of pop-ups, pop-unders, pop-overs, surveys, ads, video-ads, and intrusive pages that latched onto my computer.
I had to clean out my computer to even respond to this thread.
Eek...The Washington Times should know better!
Or Not.
Anyway, I had the misfortune of working at BU back in the 1970’s and it was a horrible place even back then. Apologies to any FReepers who may have BU as their Alma Mater, but yikes!
Just like lawyers, you can never have enough sociology professors... /s
Any new hire non liberal would be immediately fired.
But, we expect that treatment.
Yes. ‘We are deeply saddened, but we will still let her teach her hate at the glorious BU’.
I know. The advertising assault at the Washington Times is awful but they only allow a small bit of text to be quoted.
Sure she does. There are so many things to buy if you boycott white-owned businesses.
Besides, why isn't that racist? Would it be racist if a white person boycotted black-owned businesses?
More reasons not to go to college nowadays.

Some comments from this
Chelsi Dimm-— as a former BU student, I am much more concerned about the statistically low numbers of black professors and students at the University, than the reactions of white students who may have had to check their privelage for once.
Marc Settembrino-— Robert A. Brown is the KING of the tone police. Dr. Grundy’s comments reflect over 50 years of academic research and critique of white supremacist, heteropatriarchy. Shame on President Brown for not supporting his faculty, especially junior faculty from historically marginalized groups.
Natalie Rose— She is a racist sir. Clean cut and dry.
Ray Phillips—There is no place for this bigotry in an institution of higher learning. She needs to go.
Karen Harbaugh Marchese—So that’s it? What is he going to do about? I have always been taught that someone who is a racist is ignorant. So now Boston University is higher someone like that? What chance would a white male have in her classroom when she clearly has a bias against them? If she were white and making the same comments about anyone of color, she wouldn’t have job tomorrow.
Obviously, the University DOES condone racism and bigotry, because otherwise they would fire her immediately.
Privelage? Was Chelsi an Ebonics major? She needs to check her spelling. Oh yeah, I forgot. Proper spelling is a racist micro-aggression.
Fine. But unless you agree with her positions, you should exercise your right to fire employees that have horribly bad judgement, and have embarrassed the University, not to mention left it with a taint.
Her right to free speech has nothing to do with your right to let her go.
Ah, thank you!
I thought it was ME! :-)
“... students and threats from alumni vowing to yank their donations...”
THAT’S the ticket!
They are the ‘white racists’ without whom she’d have no job or paycheck.... hmmmm.
Think she’ll GET it?
Boston needs to find their balls and keep them inflated.
However, we're not deeply saddened enough to fire her the way we would a white person who used the word "niggardly."
Possibly. At any rate, her last name is ironically accurate.
