Lake City, Iowa, which is one town west of us, got hit pretty hard.
Took the roof off the high school.
I haven't heard of any injuries or deaths, thank God.
Our power is still off this morning. Lots of power lines and transformers flattened just west and north of us.
Please keep all of those who were hit in prayer, not only here but from here to Texas.
And stay safe. Looks like a pretty wild and wooly storm season is here.

We have been very fortunate — the tornadoes are skirting Dallas a few miles to the north so far.
Last night I think I heard of at least one place west of Fort Worth that got hit yesterday.
Gotta sign off. Running on limited battery power here....
A good friend’s house and the family’s feedlot was hit last tuesday near Scandia, KS. Their house was a complete loss. Fortunately, nobody was hurt except for several feedlot calves.
I contacted him to see if we could cook for his family over the weekend and he told me that they had plenty of food but needed clothes.
Prayers for your safety — be well!

Calves?
A co-worker’s family lost their home to a fire several years ago. At the time, they said they were getting lots of help but needed clothes, as well. They just wanted used clothes that were clean and would reasonably fit, because clothes-shopping was nowhere near the top of their list at the time (first couple weeks after the fire, at least).
Often new clothing needs to be laundered and/or ironed before it can be worn, so “used but clean” offered an advantage.
Calves? - This term in beef world vernacular is often used for feedlot cattle... calves that may weigh between 800 to 1400 lbs. What cracks me up is when people refer to all cattle as “cows”
I doubt they harvested any of those calves killed by the tornado for beef. The last thing on their mind would be worried about dressing the meat in a timely manner not to mention the bruising and etc.
MFO
I am a city boy so this is all new to me.
I am praying for theirs and your continued safety.
Thank you. Personally, I have been through 2 tornados over the past 25 years I have lived in KS. One went right over the top of me in the dept building I work in (I was in a refrigerated class room). My ears popped from the pressure change but that was it.
Finally got our power back on! Thank God for all those Mid-American crews who have worked so hard for the last 30 hours or so.
Well, the kids got a taste of life without electricity for a day. Good for ‘em.
Actually, they handled it great. Katie and Tim cooked everybody a meal on the grill earlier in the day, and then a wonderful family from five miles out in the country, who never lost power, was driving around town with the back end of their vehicle filled with cookers full of sloppy joes, and salads, and desserts. They said they just wanted to make sure everybody had at least one hot meal today. God bless ‘em!
Anyhow, please keep praying for the folks in Lake City. They’re the ones who really took the hit.
