Houthi rebels in Yemen say they have shot down a Moroccan fighter jet that was taking part in Saudi-led coalition air strikes against them.

Rebel-controlled Al-Masirah TV reported that the F-16 was hit as it flew over Saada province, and broadcast pictures of what it said was the wreckage.

The Moroccan Royal Armed Forces earlier said one of its planes was missing.

If confirmed, it would be the first aircraft lost by the coalition since its air campaign began on 26 March.

The bombardment has been stepped up in recent days ahead of the start of a proposed five-day humanitarian ceasefire.

Not fun to be a shot-down pilot captured by these animals.

That is a map for a very ugly war.
I thought the Sunni-Shia split there was clean.
It isn’t though.

http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2015/05/11/Saudi-strike-force-arrives-on-Yemen-border.html

Saudi Arabia has announced that a strike force has arrived on the border with Yemen, as the operation to quell Houthi militias in the country continues.

Don’t forget the Saudi King is supposedly snubbing Obama but maybe he needs to stay in town...

Its showing what some people think the Houthis control, and where AQ operates.
In both cases it seems to track living patterns for ethnic/religious communities. I.e. the sea in which guerilla movements swim.
If these communities are where this map implies they are, they are mixed up and overlap. Which means lots of people are close neighbors who are likely to kill each other. Syria and Iraq and Rwanda.

Good Lord What a mess.

I don’t know if there is any comparison to watching the Asian countries war in the 30’s. We ended up getting pulled into that with Pearl.

the difference I guess, is that the Japanese war machine dwarfed any of theses messy countries

I never foresaw this all happening six years ago. I feel that we were the glue that held the world together. We were respected and sometimes feared if that’s what it took. We are now a weak nation with no positive world influence, and our president sits back in enjoyment while the world burns. Most of my peers know nothing and frankly don’t care to know either. They’re more worried about which team won the football game and when they’re going to get a peice of tail.

we wont survive eight years of pantsuit on top of this.

I’m early early thirties. I used to be ignorant. I was sworn in to protect and defend a very important document that I didn’t know or care about at the time. My public school education didn’t help. I know what it’s like to be ignorant and it’s not bliss at all. Reality is a scary thing to face for some people.
