Isolated? China & Russia Celebrate Victory Day Together, Obama Absent

When a Chinese honor guard joins a military parade in Russia’s capital this weekend, watched by China’s President Xi Jinping, it will mark more than just a symbolic recognition of the two countries’ contributions to the Allied victory in 1945.

China’s participation also reflects an upgrade of its military ties with Russia, including joint naval exercises and a revival of arms purchases, that could complicate U.S.-led efforts to counter both nations’ expanding military activities, analysts and diplomats say.

They’ve basically come to a consensus that despite their differences over some national interests, they really face the same common enemy,” said Gilbert Rozman, an expert on China-Russia relations at Princeton Univ.

Mr. Xi also appears to share a personal affinity with Russian President Vladimir Putin who is seen by many in China as a strong, patriotic leader.

Last year, Moscow and Beijing staged joint naval exercises for the first time in the East China Sea, where China is embroiled in a territorial dispute with Japan. In September, Mr. Putin and some of his troops will join a military parade in China to mark the anniversary of Japan’s defeat in 1945.

The Pentagon says China is also now pursuing a new joint design and production program with Russia for diesel-electric submarines, which could be used to try to prevent U.S. ships from intervening in a conflict in Asia.

Meanwhile, according to Chinese Media, Obama was too busy playing Golf, to commemorate victory in WW2.

During the Rad Square parade this morning, there was a shot of Putin and the Chinese Premier laughing their asses off over something.

I couldn't tell, but it looked like someone told an Obama joke.

For all those believing russia gave up communism under Moscow Spring,

nations don’t invite commies to march in their parades if you’re still not endeared towards communism yourself.

Why should he care about something that happened before he was born? /s

That’s what he said about Cuba, or some such nonsense.

The collaboration could prove to be very advantageous to China so long as it remembers not to invade Russia in winter.

Re: “So how does that explain India’s participation?”

Because of India's:

(1) Semi-Marxist political philosophy and close ties to Moscow since Indian independence in 1947?

(2) Third World standard of living?

(3) GDP per capita of about $5,000, roughly the same as Honduras?

(4) Desire for more nuclear weapons technology?

Caste systems fit well with socialist systems. There is a high degree of control over people when you have a caste system in place.

General El-Sisi was there as well.

He's in bad odor in Washington due to his opposition to Sharia Law.

The median length of an Obama joke is five characters.

The unifying thread for Russia, China, central asia, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mongolia and India is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO).
