Police ran controlled detonations at a reserve near the raided Clare Blvd home — the two explosives sounding like a “muffled gunshot”.

Couldn't have been much of an explosive. In the old days in my neighborhood, kids were making stuff that shook the ground and made you jump at the sound. Of course, back then kids were blowing up toys and gopher holes and not out to "get" anyone.
