Mitt Romney convenes 2016 contenders, donors for Utah retreat

Mitt Romney, who earlier this year decided against a third presidential bid after briefly flirting with a run, will jump back into the national political scene next month when he hosts GOP presidential hopefuls and some of the party’s biggest donors in Utah.

Romney’s 2015 E2 Summit will take place June 11-13 in Deer Valley, a ski resort east of Salt Lake City, according to an invitation obtained Thursday by The Washington Post.

Confirmed speakers from the likely 2016 Republican field include Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.).

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush, long seen as a Romney rival due to tensions between their camps, was invited but will not attend, per a Romney ally.

“The format will be similar to that of the past, with speakers on a range of topics throughout the day and outdoor enthusiast activities each morning and Saturday afternoon,” wrote Spencer Zwick, Romney’s former national finance chairman, in the invitation to Romney’s associates.

The Walker invite surprises me a bit. His recent “protect American workers” stand doesn’t seem to jive with this Chamber of Commerce/GOPe crowd.

Follow the money and the deals.

Are you kidding? Walker who was the one with the closed door meetings with the Chambers of Commies. The same Walker who cozied up to Romney when JEB and Romney were duking it out for top elite candidate status?

Every person invited to this thing is a RINO. Every. Single. One. The ones closest to Romney are the ones who are best trained to fool conservatives.

If Cruz gets an invite at all it won’t be serious.

"No one at that retreat will get my vote."

Written like a true Kamikaze Conservative. Folks with your limited grasp of reality stayed home the past two elections and gave the presidency to Obama by default.

And they are so smug about their treason.

Hillary might throw in the towel on seeking elected office if she loses in 2016. But don't think you'll never hear from her again with regards to office-seeking. As long as they walk the earth, pursuit of some office for Chelsea with Hillary as the First Dowager, "offering advice from the voice of experience" to Chelsea in every decision, will be her driving passion.

He's back in the race by July.

I doubt it. Mitt was set to run again but then turned on a dime and decided not to, almost certainly because RNC higher-ups and Karl Rove's team told him that this time is Jeb's turn. Once Jeb announces his candidacy, Mitt will endorse him like a good boy.
