Paranoia has been shown for centuries on end to have great survival value for more than one reason. I suggest you read a bit more history. Do you believe that 9/11 actually happened?

With all due respect, MSgt is nowhere near the decision making chain. It is in the execution portion, so I don’t have much faith that he is privvy to master plans.
Yes, in the 60s we did do these drills. But in the 60s, the government did not list the people as an enemy, and the continental USA as a “battlefield” in legal documents, and the military did not possess any legal authority to arrest or detain anyone.
This is like saying we flew airplanes on training missions in the 60s, so the mission of the training is exactly the same today.
Anyone notice that Texas is enemy territory, and Colorado, California, is friendly? New Mexico is not friendly, not enemy. Very close to the real life mentality in those states,,, broad brush.
If we had a bunch of SpecOps guys killed overseas in a thousands of miles long desert mission, the response would be, “Well, why didn’t they train for it the same way they were going to do it? We have desert, too, that they can train in.”

And btw, I grew up around all sorts of military folks as a Navy brat. My old man (retired USN) had much to say about stuff like Jade Helm & I’m glad he is no longer alive to see much of what he predicted come to pass, but especially with the US military.
If my opinion offends you, that’s your problem. Being a willing participant to a huge and questionable military exercise is everyone’s problem.
They have repeatedly pushed the theory under the label of Governmental “Studies” that the biggest threat to Leftist America is Middle Aged White Men and their love of Guns and the Constitution...(likely true!)
I wasn't going to comment on this thread; too easy for it to slip in to loonery. This comment drug me out of the shadows, though. It smacks of the oh-so-oft muttered "army of hunters" phrase. Most, as in a vast majority of those 200+M gun owners will willingly hand over their guns when told to by the government. After the initial call for turn over, many more will reluctantly hand their guns over after some outlier is made an example of in some "incident". The number of those left will still be substantial, and the government, media, and eventually public will call them "terrorists". That number will be magnitudes smaller than the original 200+M. Of those left very few will actually be willing to take action, until their backs are against the wall. At that point it will be too late for them and the rest of the country that either hates, or fears them.
I'm not being alarmists, or such by saying this. I'm just using history as a reference point. Changes in our society, the rise of liberal media/corporate/government coordination, and the genral debasing of people's morals will be what brings it all about. Read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich". In that tome, you will see how a small group of fanatics can take over a system. Your mind will spin when you see in retrospect exactly how easy it was for the Nazi's to do so. It will spin even faster when you realize that doing so in today's America has been far easier, much more efficient and relatively bloodless for modern liberals. There are many more modern examples than 1930's Germany on the process; it just happens to be one of the best studied and documented.
I agree with Travis M's take on the whole Jade Helm issue. The boots on the ground aspect isn't what is alrming. It is the building of an infrastructure and the conditioning of the public that is scary.
People assume this training is about them....what happens when the gang bangers in Baltimore or any major US city start shooting cops en mass instead of throwing rocks...who is going to be called on to quell a city on fire full of armed gang bangers?

There are more troops stationed in Texas than the entire Jade Helm exercise of 1200.

They have specifically targeted people like us as potential terrorists.
They illegally spy on us..
They lie constantly, and about almost everything.
So yes,,, why would a sane person think this exercise was benign?
