LOS ANGELES Three people, including one who works for California Attorney General Kamala Harris, were charged after claiming to operate a police department with jurisdiction in 33 states and Mexico and that traces its roots back 3,000 years, authorities said Wednesday.
Brandon Kiel, David Henry and Tonette Hayes were taken into custody last week on suspicion of impersonating officers as members of the Masonic Fraternal Police Department, Los Angeles County sheriffs officials said.
Detectives believe other people may be involved in the operation, sheriffs spokeswoman Nicole Nishida said.
....
The investigation started after various police chiefs in California received a letter in late January that announced new leadership for the Masonic Fraternal Police Department.
In the letter, the group claims it is registered with the state and is informing the chief it will be working with Grandmasters, as well as fraternities and sororities throughout Sovereign Jurisdictions around the country.
The Jan. 20 letter obtained by The Associated Press was copied to Harris. It was written by Kiel, identified as its chief board of director, and Hayes, the grand chief director, and includes a badge emblem with Henrys name below.
In the letter, the group claims it is registered with the state and is informing the chief it will be working with Grandmasters, as well as fraternities and sororities throughout Sovereign Jurisdictions around the country.
The letter claims there are 5,686 lodges and that the department will be able to acquire intel that is not accessible to non-fraternal entities. It said one aim of the department was to restore public trust.
A website for the Masonic police force says the group was created by the Knights Templar in 1100 B.C.

Acquire "intel" on WHAT?!?!
Actually, the first military orders of knighthood were of Knights Hospitaller and of the Holy Sepulchre, both founded at the First Crusade of 1099, followed by the Knights Templar (1119) and the Order of Saint Lazarus (1098).
Argh!!! It’s morning. You caught the BC, not AD, mistake she made. I did not. Mea culpa, and good catch!!
Nice trick for The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon to have organized in 1100BC as the temple wasn’t built until 970BC. Of course, BC speaks for itself.
Why 33? Because.
No but there is a woman’s organization connected to the Masons.
If you claim some status to the Knights of Templar....the earliest possible claim is 1149 AD (roughly 900 years ago). For the first decade, they required little to no funding...then they got around to the funding game.
These California guys really built up a bogus history legend over this.
The Honeymooners.
I suppose, but I really think they are just nuts.
Night’s Templar?
Well. That’s interesting. Jiffy pop time.
The Mystic Knights of the Sea
Too the moon!
More like they were making up sh*t as they went along.
The women’s organazation is called the Eastern Star. They hold their meetings in the same lodge that the Masons use. My mother in law was in that organazation.
Yes, and because our weak understanding of history...no one questioned them or their agenda. Peel back their accomplishment....where’s the cash flow and who got advantages from their game?
Whoa, dude that’s one scary Kampala fo sho!
