An Iranian naval fleet chased a U.S. warship and military planes through the waters off the southern coast of Yemen late Monday in yet another provocative encounter between the two nations, according to Iranian state media reports.
A U.S. warship and several planes reportedly changed their direction on Monday after encountering an Iranian naval fleet during a patrol in the Gulf of Aden near Yemen, Iranian state media revealed.
The U.S. military assets fled after they came close to an Iranian naval fleet and were warned to move away, Irans state-controlled Fars News Agency reported. Iran also released video of the incident.
The run-in between the United States and Iranian militaries is just the latest in several tense confrontations between the countries near Yemen, where Iran is believed to be smuggling weapons to opposition forces.
The United States moved military assets in the region in a bid to stop Iran from moving weapons into Yemen. Iranian war fleets have been patrolling international waters around Yemen in recent weeks.

It is reported we've stopped escorting commercial ships, after a couple days.
I don't believe they "chased" U.S. warships which implies hostile intent. Probably followed them in international waters. IMO this is an environment of uncertainty, localized and at the highest levels, which invites misjudgement and the mistakes that fosters.
I wanna see that thing on his head go off on TV, and him still wearing it! And while he is in an embrace with his vp...
Hey, you don’t have to spell it out for the rest of us...’Queen’ = ‘Queer’ in these cases...just so you know...
Sounds like they are following the led of the Baltimore Mayor to let them have space to do as they please.
We’ve played these games since I was in theater. Naturally anything could happen, but when it has in the past the Iranians haven’t been happy at the outcome. If things are as they were, we have our targets all picked out and briefed. Just in case.
Well if I simply wrote The Halfrican Queer, it might not be as obvious that it was a play on the name of the movie, which in turn is a tie-in to the general maritime theme of this thread and just what kind of vessel would adequately represent the spineless jerk who it is our great misfortune to have in the role of CIC. Itssmee was just joining in the fun. But nuanced fun is obviously not your strong suit.
It would have been on, like Donkey Kong if that had happened...
“Bulldogs away...”
I think the pregnant women on bored started screaming and the woman captain yelled “Let’s get out of here!!!”
Well, so you’ve had your ‘nuanced’...and you don’t know me or my strong suit. :)
I nuanced you had your fun. this time at my expense, and for that we ALL will be eternally grateful (or until the Queen is properly dethroned and there is eventually some semblance of order reestablished in the scheme of things relating to this once great nation).
We all agree on that. Sorry for getting so snippy. I just had a battle royale with my ten year old throwing a temper tantrum and I had about 1 nerve left and it was frayed.
I miss Reagan....
Long gone, and anyone in the least bit like him long relieved.
Our ships flying the rainbow flag yet?
0bama is a wuss.
and he wants to give them another $50 billion for making a false promise??
probably because VJ called them and told them to stand down

Only in Obama’s Amerika....
The Iranian Navy chasing the US Navy is an example of the proverbial story about a dog chasing a car. Of course the question is the same for both stories: what are you going to do with them once you “catch” them?
Because, just like the dog doesn’t really want to get tangled with a car tire, so too do the Iranians want to avoid the BITE of the American Navy!
I’d stand in line to watch the movie, “One A10 vs. the Whole Iranian Navy”.
Is that a 75 HP Evinrude on the bow?
