In the wake of the terror attack on Pamela Gellers Mohammed cartoon contest and free speech conference, the media are ramping up their mantra that caveats come with free speech. They dont seem to realize that free speech with caveats is no longer free speech.
One journalist after another after another has pounded away about the need to be sensitive to others (others = Muslims) and not to do anything that might offend (offend = violence). Watching this cascade of sheer media madness has been like witnessing a hazardous waste site from a toxic explosion, belching globs of dhimmitude and accusations of fauxslamophobia. The relentlessness of the attack has been shocking along with the hubris these journalists appear to possess, as if the long arm of Islam will not touch their lives in unthinkable ways.
*snip*
n addition to Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer is also taking a lot of heat, as evidenced during an interview on CNN, where Spencer was accused of setting bait and wanting violence.
Spencer also appeared on MidPoint, Newsmax TV, where the journalist started out with this statement: Theres a fine line to be drawn between making a political statement and inciting someone to start breaking out the rifles and taking shots.

Its time for all of us to start standing up and let the blowback commence. Especially agains’t any of these so called conservative talking heads who side with Islam. They know who they are.
[ Hustler magazine is 1st Amendment protected speech too. So is Klan cross-burning. Nice company she keeps. ]
You are a SCHMUCK!
Hustler magazine is something that is sold in stores and stores can choose to sell them or not!
Cross burning “Klan Style” is illegal because it involves TRESPASSING ONTO someone ELSE’s Property and creating an firehazard/ARSON by burning a cross on someone else’s PROPERTY and it is a threat in that way. TRESPASSING AND ARSON ARE BOTH CRIMES!
Now if a moron Kook Klux Klucker wants to burn a cross on their own property then they can, I don’t like it, but they should LEGALLY be able to do so as longs as the burning wood doesn’t cause a fire hazard that could potentially spread to their neighbor’s property and they get the proper LOCAL GOVT. fire permits as needed. Personally I will be hoping the fire spreads from their burning cross onto their own house.
And just to clarify the 1st amendment, The first amendment is not the right to free speech for individuals, it is the protection of the citizens FROM government to prevent them from ABRIDGING the Natural right of free speech.
[ Let’s see, PISS CHRIST is not hate speech.
Larry flint’s extremely vile anti-Christian cartoons are not hate speech.
This Larry Flint Libel is not hate speech, the SCOTUS said so. ]
What is fascinating is that Flint and Fawell became friends after this kerfluffle,
If you do not stand up for the exercise of speech that you find distasteful, disagreeable, offensive, or even obscene, then you do not support free speech.
The way to counter “irresponsible” speech is with your own free speech, not by shutting down others through violence, law, or intimidation.
That’s all I heard on Talk Radio this morning - conservative TR!
The media is bendover Barry’s megaphone
Media = PRAVDA just like old soviet union
no credibility and no integrity
The libtards are anti freedom a nd thus COMMON INTEREST COMMON CAUSE with Islam and jihadis.......

“Not sure what Pamela did was very bright, but in a clumsy way, she did a great service to America:
1- she highlighted with great clarity what a clear and present danger ISIS and radical Islam is to America, and
2- she highlighted with great clarity what a clear and present danger the mainstream media is to America”
I agree. A wise observer once wrote that it is sometimes better to do the wrong thing than to do nothing. I like Geller, and maybe she has started some positive momentum to awaken a sleeping, dumb nation. Has anyone else actually done anything?
Please Tell me then, oh wise one. What speech is/not permissible or acceptable?
Who decides what can/cannot be said? Who/Not can say it? And Why/Not.
You?
Though I have some problems with including pornography, and threats of violence associated with cross-burning (like say, when done on the front lawn of a person which others seek to intimidate) here's that Amendment, the 1st one on the list, coming about as it did, as point of positive affirmation & clarification;
The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
So what say you now Romulus?
Is the freedom of speech the root of all sin?
And I would rather keep company with the likes of Pamela Gellar than those who would surrender our basic right of free speech as they appease radical Islamo-fascist Nazis.
Exactly. Hate Speech was the camel’s nose under the tent to destroy freedom of speech.
Anyone who controls the allowed definition of “words” can control the proper emotions embedded into children. It is Wittgenstein’s philosophy which Marxists have used for 100 years to move us “progressively” to “thinking” correctly (to be an irrational ideologue).
Dialectics have been essential to freedom and Truth in Western Civ. It is why we have the US Constitution-—Profound (educated) debate of ALL ideas by brilliant (Classically educated/Bible) minds. Thus, more “freedom of speech”, the more Truth/God/Virtue is allowed since Virtue allows Excellence and flourishing and creativity.
Obscenity never was protected “speech” (until after the 60s)-—it is puerile and ends the mature debate of ideas and detracts from civility (maturity) and debases human beings and encourages puerile, addictive, destructive behaviors.
So let me get this straight...
Drawing a CARTOON of Mohammed is “asking for it”...it is the equivalent of shouting “fire” in a theater (so we’re told).
...doesn’t this kinda highlight the fact that there’s a *problem* with Islam?
The left is contradicting themselves. You can’t say Islam is a peaceful religion and then say “you should have known” insulting them would cause violence. Nobody expects that from Christians.
Free speech is only important when it is offensive, otherwise you don’t have free speech. Drawing cartoons is not hurting anybody. You have the right to offend, the right to be offended and the right to be offended at someones offense!! ...nobody has the right to decide what can be said. This is the most hypocritical thing I’ve ever seen from the left. I suppose Christians have been doing it all wrong...we should be violent when offended, then the left will shut up!!!

Remember to go to Geller’s website and post your supportive comments there as well.
Let the leftist loonies in the media know that Pam has millions of supporters.
My sister-in-law’s Dad and Uncle, and I loved them both dearly, would seemingly discuss for hours the best way to do something (around the farm or house). I learned watching and listening to them that oftentimes, if you will just light into the job, you can have it done by the time they finish discussing it. It might not have been done the “best” way, but it was DONE. Results matter.
Sometimes it is far, far better to get your hands dirty to get things moving. The radical Islam, the MSM & the radical leftists and statists running our government ARE THE BAD GUYS!! Time to get our hands dirty disposing of them.
I applaud Pamela for that. She is on the side of right. ISIS, radical Islam, statists, radical leftists and the MSM are NOT.
Amazing how many so called conservatives and libertarians or even constitutionalist get confused about free speech.
The 1st Amendment is very simple. It states that Congress may pass no law that hinders the exercise of freedom of expression. That’s it. So these Mohamets did not attack the 1st amendment. The attacked Pamela’s group. She was not exercising her first amendment rights because that right restricts the government not the Muzies. Criminal law is there to restrict the Muzies from killing.
Only Congress and its various minions can violate the 1st Amendment. And, btw, that’s what the 2nd Amendment helps prevent.
It does not require the government to use force to protect anyone from the consequences of speech, association, assembly etc. There are laws that protect us from criminal acts. As we say hear in redneck country “your right to free speech ends at my fist”.
It’s the perfect combination of trashing the first amendment and engaging in the War on Women that Democrats accuse Republicans of doing constantly. Plus it’s the opportunity to engage in the “she asked for it” type of conversation that feminists always decry when Republicans speak it. Trifecta, remarkable.
Even Greta on Fox News piled on last night, saying it is good to stand up for free speech but it wasn’t good to put the lives of others (i.e., hired security) at risk; and sure, we have the right to free speech, but with rights come responsibilities (not to provoke?).
Shameful.
Face it: a large number of Muslims are unrepentant barbarians — they threaten violence if they are offended. They are encouraged to be barbaric by some of the writings and traditions of Islam. The remaining Muslims are encouraged by those same traditions to not criticize other Muslims when they are being barbaric.
Does a Civilized person have an obligation, legal or moral, to change their behavior in order to not offend a barbarian? I don’t think so.
One can make the case that barbarians should be deliberately “offended” so that they can be crushed when they initiate violence, and then any remaining barbarians will have an opportunity to reconsider their behavior.
“Hustler magazine is 1st Amendment protected speech too. So is Klan cross-burning. Nice company she keeps.”
Romulus, back in the day when the KKK was burning crosses and lynching people, did the newspapers and radio blame the victims for causing the KKK to do those things?
Probably not.
