WASHINGTONFreshman Sen. Tom Cottons temporary office is located in the less-than-desirable basement of the Russell Senate building, reflecting his rookie status. Like other junior senators, he performs his share of Senate chores, including presiding over the chamber. But the similarities end there.
Among this years crop of 13 newly minted senators, Mr. Cotton, who served one term in the House, has emerged early on as the most vocal and polarizing newcomer, set apart by his headline-grabbing foreign policy.
The Arkansas Republicans tactics have drawn praise from his conservative supporters, but irritated some GOP colleagues when his moves have conflicted with their efforts.
Long gone are the days when Senate freshmen were expected to keep their heads down and mouths closed for their first months in office. Still, even in a chamber where newcomers, such as Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) and Ted Cruz (R., Texas), have entered with a national following and not shied away from bucking their leaders at times, Mr. Cotton has drawn unusual attention, particularly for inserting himself into negotiations with Iran.

Cotton cut short McConnell's "bipartisan" and phony show, where they vote only on amendments that they've already lined up the votes for or against.
It's a sham!
The MSM loved “polarization” when Barney Frank did it.
It's strange how during a campaign people complain about "business as usual" in DC, but when someone gets there and actually tries to change things, they get up in arms and expect them to sit back and go with the flow.
There should be a rule posted at the DC City limits requiring all ego's be checked before entry.
Gosh, do you think Cotton is doing what he actually said he would do??? One of the very few that are living their promises??
I hope Cotton is smart enough to see through McC of KY and McC of AZ for that matter.
Well what do you know, Ole Mitch didn’t quite “crush them everywhere” after all.
Actually, he is very smart and apparently principled. I really like this guy. I can forsee him running for President someday. For the itme being, he needs to replace McConnell.
Tom Cotton is destined to be president some day - if the republic lasts long enough.
Cotton as a Senator has been refreshingly surprising in making himself known in DC.
His senior counterpart who defeated Blanche Lincoln has been a backbencher for the last 4 years. The guy’s name escapes me {rhetorical} because he has done little but toe the party line.
I don’t understand why new congress men accept this senior ity thing. They all got there the same way, by being elected by the people in their districts. I don’t understand why they accept being shut down like that. It’s good to see that at least a couple of them are not standing for it.
John Boozman is the other senator and has done nothing except collect his check.
