I use Uber in large cities whenever I visit. Great service. Better than just about any cab driver. It is my understanding that the Uber drivers had their chauffeurs license and passed background checks,etc..

Nong Khai is several hundred miles upstream from Cambodia.

If he had been there, I'd have been happy to take him over to Mae Salong where I could introduce him to the sons of General Li Mi.

Uber’s biggest problem is that free markets and entreprenuership is seen by ‘conservatives’ as a ‘loophole’ in the law...

Yes. As it is now, the taxi business is a racket, rife with cronyism.

I'm not just referring to loopholes in laws. Uber's biggest challenge since its inception is that its drivers have to deal with increasing scrutiny from their own insurance companies. Check out some of the stories about the various cases involving civil lawsuits against Uber's drivers.

And there isn't really very much about Uber's business model that I'd describe as "entrepreneurship" anyway.

Cab rides are expensive because you are paying the guy driving the car as well as the car itself.

Soon, we will be paying just the car. And it will get a lot cheaper.
