Martin OMalley (D) says he plans to announce his presidential campaign in Baltimore. Perhaps hell used a burned-out police car or a looted storefront as his backdrop. The former Maryland governor and Baltimore mayor tried to blame last weeks unrest on structural problems in our economy, outsourcing and a failure to invest in infrastructure. Nice try. The fact is, OMalley and the Democrats own Baltimore and the disaster it has become. As one resident who met OMalley at an inner-city food drive last week put it, Hes walking into the aftermath of his legacy.
Its not his legacy alone. The last time Baltimore had a Republican mayor was 1967, nearly five decades ago. Indeed, the state of Maryland has had just two Republican governors since 1969 (and one took office just four months ago). Baltimore is a deep blue city in a deep blue state. The mayor is a Democrat. Every member of the city council is a Democrat. The school system is run by Democrats (and their teachers union overlords).
OMalley says recent events in Baltimore should serve as a wake-up call for the entire country. Hes right about that. After five decades of virtually uninterrupted Democratic rule, Baltimore is an utter disaster. The lefts approach to poverty has failed.
Reflecting on Baltimores dismal record, a former aide to former Mayor Kurt Schmoke told The Post We meant well. Im sure they did. But meaning well is no excuse for almost 50 years of failure.

Begs one to wonder what are they using rest of the time if they need to steal TP?
and let’s also call an ace an ace...a black female mayor and a black female DA. Liberal democrats in charge for decades and black women in positions of power.
Why isn’t Baltimore a paradise on earth?
Plenty of braindead liberals in the comments section at WaPo, spewing out the usual leftist defense of their failures.

What a great line!
THE DEMOCRAT SCAM
Democrats have been quite successful getting elected to office by promising to clean up the piles of excrement they have made and by promising to restore the cities they have destroyed and turned into inhuman pigpens.
And I might add, at great expense to the taxpayer
One after another, democrats are elected by promising to clean up the mess the preceding democrat has left.
And as long as democrats control the education system they can keep churning out brainwashed dummies who will fall for the same old scam every election.
“Reflecting on Baltimores dismal record, a former aide to former Mayor Kurt Schmoke told The Post We meant well. Im sure they did. But meaning well is no excuse for almost 50 years of failure.”
But this is so typical of “progressives.” It’s their feelings and intentions that matter - not the results they get and the ruined lives.
It’s about time we made them own it.
“Begs one to wonder what are they using rest of the time if they need to steal TP?”
TP is a big black market commodity once there are no more on the shelves.

The first duty of government is to protect life. The second is to protect property.
Neither the rats running MD nor those ruling the USA can bring themselves to do either.
This cannot go on.
Maybe these are all recent immigrants from Venezuela who can’t believe their good fortune, finding toilet paper in stores.
There is an odd statistic at play here.
For every decade since 1970...Baltimore has lost approximately ten-percent of its population. 1970 - almost one million residents. 2012 - 612,000 residents.
For every decade since 1960...the state of Maryland has gain around ten-percent of its population. 1960 - almost three million residents. 2014 - 5.94 million residents.
By 2030, you can figure that Baltimore will be lucky to have 480,000 residents in the city. When the discussion comes up around 2025 on replacing Oriole Park (Camden Yards)...watch for the shocker that they want to move the new stadium out to the Silver Springs region.
Baltimore has Detroit-syndrome. It’s got nothing going for it and the tax base of the city has no real positive trend except to tax the wealthy base more than ever.
