OPD fires officer who shot 23 times into parking garage
OPD Officer David Johnston has been fired after an internal investigation found he violated department policies. (Video from Fox 35) He is facing the following charges: shooting into an occupied vehicle and discharging a gun in public.
The incident started as a domestic call about a man with a gun at CityView Apartments on Church Street. Two officers, Alexander Kipp and Anthony Watts, fired their weapons at the suspect when he tried to run them over with his vehicle in the parking garage, police say.

I guess 23 is a nice round number......
Well, now he has time to get to the range. He needs some practice.
Grammar headline nope who needs.
In the movies, this stuff works, and no one ever seems to face charges or even fill out paperwork explaining why they were justified in endangering the public. In real life, cops seem unable to realize that make-believe is different from reality.
Can anyone explain why I the video at the end the fleshtones of bare skin are miscolored on their arms but not the hands? It makes everyone look as if they are wearing wetsuits.
“A lot of cops seem to think movies are real.”
Dirty Harry never had any trouble at all finding a parking space in downtown S.F. Go figure! ;)
Good argument for arming police with revolvers: he’d have gotten tired before he could have fired 23 times.
23 stray shots rip thru a parking garage and luckily hit no one. The only saving grace is the cop is a really terrible shot.
23 is a prime number, for what its worth
It must be the lighting.
There you go.... I didn’t think of that. I’d guess this guy has watched a few too many “bang bang shoot em’ up” movies....
Makes all the difference in the world, that.

I like this.....no wonder he was outrun.. And don’t bother telling me it’s out of context. I’m getting into practice to become a journalist...
“”Johnston opened fire 23 times on a suspect fleeing from a downtown Orlando apartment complex with nearly 90 feet””
What’s up with all these cops trying to shoot people in the back while they’re running away?
How long before a round goes through a window and kills a kid?
Plenty of primes well before 23. Cop had plenty to pick from.
After the first ten (10) shots, it’s generally considered a case of “Spray & pray.”
