Out in the valley he has a feeder which he fills with corn for the deer. Last Winter they had so much snow that he wasn't even able to open his back gate to access the field to fill the feeder.
A lot of deer were killed off due to the cold and snow and it took an extreme toll on the fawns last spring.
With that being one of the causes, the coyotes increased in numbers due to the abundance of food from the snow entrapped deer and their fawns.........
I talked with my friend Bill last week and he told me there is a good looking coyote that he's seen on the back edge of his valley but he can't shoot it because they're not in season right now......
???
The population may be a bit low but if they don’t cull them this year even with some bag limits, they’ll be begging people to help them next year..
The coyote just about wiped out my domestic farm cats.Yes they are outdoor kitties but get fed morning and evening and their home has over 100 acres.Closest neighbor is at least a quarter-mile and sits inside watching TV most of the time.About a dozen tame kitties disappeared over the weekend;probably not coincidentally, while driving on our county road I saw coyote pups running into a seldom used nearby barn belonging to an absentee owner.Nearby being across the road from the TV watcher.Someone i have doing some work here remarked “the coyote pups are cute” and took pictures..
Trouble is, the coyotes and wolves are predators and look at everything else as a potential meal. That would include the idiots who think it is wonderful to (re)introduce predators to civilized areas.Damn Agenda 21!
And deer here are abundant. Also involved in near-nightly car crashes.Maybe we can eat them once the economy totally crashes-or will the overlords order “poachers” hanged as in Olde England?
Where do you live?
Was it wet too? If so, you might as well have been duck hunting!
Used to freeze my ass off waiting on ducks.
Am I cold? Yup. Am I wet? Yup. Damn, I must be duck hunting!
Indiana.
I can’t stand the taste of northern Whitetail. Give me that good corn and soybean fed venison from down around here! :)
