A former crony of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie pleaded guilty Friday in the Bridgegate scandal and is willing to testify that the fading GOP star knew about crippling lane closures as they were happening, his lawyer said afterward.
David Wildstein, who scored a $150,000-a-year Port Authority job through his Christie connections, entered into a cooperation deal with prosecutors and admitted scheming to snarl traffic near the George Washington Bridge as part of a political payback scheme.
Two other ex-officials with ties to Christie were also indicted on charges they plotted with Wildstein to take revenge against Democratic Mayor Mark Sokolich for refusing to endorse Christies 2013 re-election, New Jersey US Attorney Paul Fishman said.

The punishment should fit the crime. If this fiasco caused 10,000 people to be trapped in their cars for 10 hours (over several days) the punishment should be 10,000*10=100,000 hours of being trapped in a cell. That would be 4166 days, more than 11 years. Works for me. These petty tyrants remind me of the Nazi and USSR bureaucrats, and they should reap the Kafkaesque seeds they have sown.
NOOOOOOOOoooooooo Really?
To me, this is just further evidence of how much of a RINO Krispy Kreme Christy really is. This sort of thing is much more characteristic of a lefist/democrat, which is what Christy is. I mean, come on, he is in NJ politics. How many actual conservatives do you really think there are in NJ politics? Much like the U.S. Congress at this point, NJ is pretty much a one-party state pretending that it has two.
Him and thousands of other people knew about the closures as they were happening. How could anyone in the area not know. Looks like a contrived story to me and I don't want Christie as town dog catcher.
Meanwhile, in far less important matters than a traffic jam, few care that the SOS was taking bribes from foreign countries.
This guy said from day one Christie knew but was never able to supply any proof. Subsequent investigations also failed to show a single connection of Christe to bridgegate.
If you want to use dirty tricks to exact revenge on a political opponent, try the old standbys of getting him drunk, setting him up with a hooker and then taking photos. Something that doesn’t inconvenience thousands of my fellow Jerseyites, already amongst the most inconvenienced commuters in the country, who must travel, at usurious rates, over, under, or on the water to get to work on Manhattan Island.
Christie = Unindicted Co-Conspirator.
Still not a shred of proof. Have you any?
Christie asked for payback for the non-endorsement but didn’t tell his cronies to close the bridge.
But he’s a lesser evil!!!!!
Nooooooooo! We need more RINOs in the race. Put this off until the primary is over!
Link?
I'm not a huge fan of Christie, but I'm sure he's smart enough that he never would have done this if there was a chance in hell that any evidence existed, linking him to the incident.
Wait until the woman with the kids takes the plea bargain. Then it will get fun...
I can’t stand Christie but I find this hard to believe.
