Of course all their so-called 'solutions' require more big government.

Easy solution, just lower the standards like you did when you wanted to increase the amount of women in the military. Anything else would obviously be discriminatory to the obese.

Yes, and how about more sports like dodge ball and kick ball.
How about the students take some responsibility for their own health-less screen time with the computer or TV.

Gee.
Maybe we could start a training program for new recruits to get them into shape so they could serve. Break them down and then build them up.

If only previous generations had done that.

I used to be a little fat kid with undiagnosed asthma. My solution was two-fold—having a WWII vet for a Dad (the real deal who actually killed some nazis) and deciding that I would get in shape by doing the hardest thing for me at the time—running.

Now at age 68 I still have asthma and arthritis, but I’m able to walk a couple of miles every day and do most of what I want.

How can you be “too fat” to fight? Haven't you seen videos of those morbidly obese welfare queens going at it at McDonalds?

We have an all volunteer force. We are discharging veterans at a rate not seen since WWII. We don’t have a problem meeting recruiting quotas.

Who cares if a bunch of kids are too fat to serve? If push comes to shove and we start drafting fat kids, Extra PT combined with limited chow intake (Ala Private “Pyle” in Full Metal Jacket) will rectify the situation in a few weeks.

Maybe the lighter kids should use the heavy ones as catapult missiles?

Too much fodder for the cannon fodder.

Minnesota’s kids are too fat to fight? Funny, I don’t remember ISIS complaining about this problem when all those “kids” joined up to lop Christian heads in Iraq and Syria.

Here are six of the new generation of kids from Minnesota who joined ISIS... they don't look to overfed to me.

A much better solution is to set up pre-training camps, run by veterans. They could have a 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month program to get potential military recruits up to snuff.

Old style wooden barracks, individualized meals, endless exercise, *and* remedial education.

Everybody wears civilian clothes. The school is a one-shot, pass or fail. Dropping out is easy.

The best part is that such camps are low cost, high return.

In Minneapolis this may be true. The local farm kids near me trend toward lean and mean and make good Marines and Rangers.

I haven’t been to a military clothing Sales store in a while but it always confounded me that they stocked BDU pants in sizes like 42 W x 30 I. That’s an obese profile if you ask me.
