Maybe we could start a training program for new recruits to get them into shape so they could serve. Break them down and then build them up.
If only previous generations had done that.

Add a few weeks to basic training for the extra fat fatty group.
No more ‘unfair’ than longer AITs for some MOS than others.

In USMC Boot Camp (1966), recruits deemed too flabby, skinny or weak were sent to what was known as "The Fat Farm"....they were dropped from the training platoon and spent a minimum of two weeks being worked into shape.
We'd sometimes see these poor wretches at the messhall...the DI's would make the lightweights double up on the meal, and the porkers got a whole lot less than would be normal.
